Second hand Porsche Carrera GT, I wasn’t planning to start with this, but last week I saw a Porsche Carrera GT up close for the first time. However, it wasn’t brand new. It was second hand at a dealership in Mayfair, London.
Twelve years ago the Carrera GT was an outstanding car along with the Ferrari Enzo and Mercedes McLaren SLR. However, due to the GT’s driving character, they are one of the lesser-spotted super cars. The Carrera GT was only available with a manual gearbox and the clutch was quite hard to control as it was ceramic. Therefore, I’ve never come across one to take some photos. On the other hand it’s really easy spot a SLR or an Enzo. They are more driver-friendly, relatively. Driver friendliness is an important issue for many super car buyers; they don’t want to deal with a heavy clutch or steering wheel while heading to a night club.
Even though the Carrera GT is more than twelve years old (production year 2004), it is still extremely powerful! The GT was powered by a 5-lt V10 petrol engine with 612 HP and 590 Nm of torque. It needs only 3.7 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) with a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph).
These figures were mind-blowing twelve years ago, and in 2015 are still mind-blowing! Though you won’t be able to connect your iPhone or charge or your iPad, I’ll bet these factors wouldn’t bother anyone the least inside a Carrera GT.
