New Audi A3 Sedan: New Audi A4 Competitor?

Audi A3 Sedan, everyone was expecting to see a sedan version of the Audi A3. A3 is the leader of the luxury hatchback market. Even the presence of Mercedes A-Class or the BMW 1-Series could not manage to take the place of the Audi A3. Literally, if you want a luxury hatchback you first consider the Audi A3. However, until this time people were stuck with the Audi A3 hatchback or jump to Volkswagen Jetta. However, Jetta is not at the same level with the Audi A3.
The Audi A3 offers new standards to market such as; Bang & Olufsen sound system and leather upholstery are some of the improvements for the competition. 
A3 is powered by these engines: 1,4 TFSI 4-cylinder petrol engine with 140 HP / 250 Nm of torque; 8,4 seconds to reach 100 km/h and top speed of 213 km/h. 1,8 TFSI 4-cylinder petrol engine with 180 HP / 250 Nm of torque; 7,3 seconds to reach 100 km/kh and 235 km/h top speed. And the diesel is; 2-lt TDI four-cylinder with 150 HP / 320 Nm of torque. 8,7 seconds are enough to reach 100 km/h and top speed is 220 km/h.
Lastly, if Audi does not improve the interior space of the upcoming Audi A4; A3 Sedan may catch some of the customers from the A4. Because, A3 Sedan looks quite similar to A4 and if the legroom and interior is not that different, you may see some customers shifting from A4 to A3 Sedan.
Also, I really wonder who is going to order Bang & Olufsen in an A3. This option is way too expensive!

Goodwood Festival of Speed: BMW M135i

BMW M135i, is the new small monster from BMW. BMW 1-Series is a real tiny car and 3-lt 320 PS petrol engine is a monster. When you combine 320 PS engine with BMW 1-Series, the result is M135i monster. And I had opportunity to see it in Goodwood Festival of Speed.
As you can see, BMW M135i does not look that different but accelerates to 100 kph (62 mph) in 4,9 seconds with 8-speed automatic gearbox and 5,1 seconds with manual. Why? Because, modern automatic gearboxes shifts faster than a human arm, therefore acceleration numbers are better!
With 8-speed automatic gearbox, BMW M135i is a must have car!

BMW 1-Series Three-Door

BMW 1-Series Three-Door recently revealed. Actually, there is nothing very shocking when you see the car but when you see the new engine options, there are something new. With the BMW 1-Series Three-Door a new engine will be available, 114i! Yes, this is the lowest number BMW ever placed at the back of its vehicles. Unfortunately, this is not a 1.4-lt engine, it is just 1.6-lt engine with less horsepower. I wish to see that BMW 1-Series Three-Door will be offered with a new 1.4-lt engine instead of horsepower reduced 1.6-lt!
This new 1.6-lt TwinPower Turbo engine in BMW 1-Series Three-Door produces 102 PS of power and 180 nm of torque. And there is a problem, if this engine produces 102 PS of power with TwinPower Turbo what is this engine’s real power output without any turbos!?!
The rest of engines are; petrol 116i (136 PS), 125i (218 PS) and diesel 116d (116 PS), 118d (143 PS), 125d (218 PS).  BMW 1-Series 116d Efficent Dynamics model only produces 99g/km CO2. You will have tax and other advantages with this car.
And lastly, BMW 1-Series will be offered with xDrive all-wheel drive system after November 2012 with BMW M135 xDrive and BMW 120d xDrive models.

New BMW 1 Series: Beautiful or Ugly Design

Criticising something is very easy to do and does not take too much effort! I always to try my best to highlight and emphasise why I criticise a car. However, this time I was surprised with the Google search traffic for the new Ugly Beauty: BMW 1 Series article. Many people typed BMW 1 Series is ugly on Google and end up in my blog. From one perspective, that’s good. People are reading my blog and it appears in first page of the search results. However, that is not fair. People in BMW spend hours and hours to design this new car.
I never been in a design department but I can imagine how hard it is to create a new car in way which can receive positive criticism and meantime generate cash. Design department is covered with stress. Some customers may not wish to order their car with sophisticated technologies, but the design of a car cannot be separated from the car. And this makes the process of designing a new car as one of the most critical aspect.
As we all know, it does not end up quite well some time. During the Bangle era in BMW, most of the designs were serious issue. Many people didn’t like it, received many negative criticism. However, the new design team in BMW changed this. New BMW 5, 6 and 7 Series showed the abilities of BMW’s design department and altered our perception on the brand. Each of these are one the best looking car in their segment.
However, this was not that good for new 1 Series. Because, after these amazingly good looking cars, many people were expecting to see something really different. It should be as good looking as the new 5 Series or sportive like 6 Series. When you compare the 1 Series with these models, it does not have the same essence. And this is not an appropriate way of interpretation. 1 Series is not the competitor of 5 or 6 or 7 Series. 1 Series is the competitor of VW Golf, Ford Focus and Audi A3. When you consider these cars, I can clearly say 1 Series and Ford Focus are head-to-head! I cannot ignore the new Ford Focus, it is not like the first generation but it is way beyond better than the previous one. And when you consider 1 Series and Focus, it is really hard to which is the best.  
Introducing cars in lower segments are good opportunity to increase cash flow, but it also allow consumers to judge the design concepts with high expectations. Whatever I write here, people will not compare the 1 Series with Focus. They will still compare it with the other BMW models! I think BMW also knows this, and may be they introduced the best interior in this segment! I am not sure about the exterior but the 1 Series has the best interior on its segment.

Ugly Beauty: New BMW 1 Series is here!

The new BMW 1 Series revealed couple of days ago. Before I saw the pictures, the rumours emphasised that new 1 Series would be different than current one. I was expecting the same; the current model is absolutely ugly from exterior to interior. And expensive, and slow, and cheap interior, and lack of space, this and goes forever.
Unfortunately, new model is still ugly. I was expecting to see something better designed than the new Ford Focus but no! After the new 5, 6, and 7 Series; my expectations from 1 Series was really high but I am disappointed with the exterior! Hopefully, the interior is one of the best one in the Golf club. All the technological gadgets are transferred to 1 Series and you won’t have the feeling of driving something cheap. Also the rear leg room seems to be improved!
And the best news is, it is still rear wheel drive. I think this is one of my main reasons why some people buy 1 Series. The rest of the Golf club is front wheel drive and it is boring. And 1 Series is only car offers 8 speed automatic gearbox in this segment, I cannot ignore this fact. Placing an 8 speed automatic gearbox into this small car is a great success. And the most powerful engine is 120d with 184HP. As usual, 1 Series offer lots of technologies and comfort with reasonable option list.
Price is higher than its competitors, because it is a BMW. You know the story. If you are planning to buy a small car with luxury interior with BMW technology, this is your best option.

The thin line between rich and poor


For many times, I looked for Nespresso Machine in many stores and the result was the same. Ridiculously over priced coffee machine! I really could not understand why they were charging more than the ordinary espresso machine. They both basically do the same thing, espresso! But Nespresso was nearly twice the price of an espresso machine. As I noticed Nespresso does not offer any an extreme sophisticated technology. It was just making coffee!

Eventually it was not very hard to understand why they charge more! That’s a luxury product, George Cloney was the brand ambassador in advertisements. Nespresso was mentioned in luxury magazines. Coffee machine was evolved from daily usage to reflection of welfare. It was the invisible line between poor and rich. In its website, it was defined as timeless design, high level functionality, user friendly and you know the rest. They should have written the reflection of your money to society! It is just starting from nearly €150, I am trying to approach optimistic and it was just rising like a boomed stock exchange. In addition, you have to buy your coffee capsules from Nestle, because it does not work with other coffee. In summary, Nespresso is something which you would buy when you win the lotto! And never use it again!
This just reminded me BMW. Of course, when you buy a BMW you would drive all the time. However, it is like Nespresso machine! Especially the 1 Series. It is as big as Ford Focus or VW Golf and offering pretty much the same. You cannot have the sophisticated technologies from 5 Series, but a bit more than Focus or Golf. Unfortunately, for that unnoticeable difference, you suppose to pay very noticeable price! Hopefully, 1 Series does not work with BMW petrol, you can fill it up in anywhere on earth. Like Nespresso machine, 1 Series is a small hatchback. It is just a symbol of wealth. I have more money than you and I did not buy a Golf or Focus. Audi A3 is expensive also it looks really fine. However, 1 Series is expensive and also ugly. So ugly that, I could not find a angle to see it beautiful.
So if you wish to show your wealth, just buy Nespresso machine with BMW 1 Series.
