Brabus C Coupe

When you find the Bugatti Veyron over powered plus too expensive and, the new Ferrari F12berlinatta is not powerful enough for you. There is a solution to your dissatisfaction by Brabus. Brabus is an independent German company, which modifies the Mercedes-Benz cars. Actually, they turn Mercedes-Benz cars into monsters, this could be the best definition for the Brabus. Putting so much power and torque into a car that is supposed to be über comfortable is not a modification!
According to mercedes-benz-passion.com, Brabus will reveal Brabus Bullit Coupe at Geneva Motorshow. It will be based on the current C Coupe model and powered by a 6,3lt V12 engine with two turbo and producing 800PS plus 1420nm of torque. In order to keep the gearbox in one piece and not to place a gearbox from a truck, they limited the torque level to 1100nm. This remote control sized car with V12 can accelerate to 100 kph (62 mph) in 3,7 seconds and can keep going up to 370 kph (230 mph). Unfortunately, 100 kph acceleration is not that satisfying and it is due to huge amount of torque and being rear wheel driven.
In order to drive this car you need to sacrifice €500,000. I didn’t convert into other currencies, it is expensive at any currency on planet!

Now, you have opportunity to configure your Ferrari F12berlinetta. You have opportunity to select various different colours, including the historical Ferrari colours from the past. Actually, I like them more than the contemporary ones! You can choose different wheels and different colours for brake callipers. Unfortunately, there are not many options available for interior.

And there are not list of options feature on this new Ferrari! I am pretty sure that, many things are on option list with a reasonable price tag :)

Ferrari 620 GT – > Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

Sometimes leaked information inside the car companies may not be true! Similar to iPhone 5 situation, many people including me thought that new Ferrari would be 620 GT! But it didn’t happen like that, Ferrari released the information today and as you can see, it is F 12 Berlinetta.
Despite this branding confusion, this car is the fastest Ferrari ever built according to Ferrari. Actually, their all new cars are the fastest ;) This car is faster than any other Ferrari on planet at Fiorano circuit by 1 minute 23 seconds. 
Actually, V12 Ferraris are always my favourite and I was expecting to see the new car that will replace the legendary 599. And here it is, much faster than anything, looking amazing, has lots of Formula 1 technology. Also, it is only 1,5-tonne! Really light. And Ferrari placed a screen in front of the passenger side, it shows the speed and the engine rev! It would definitely reduce the curiosity of the passenger :)

New Ferrari 620 GT with new video!

The replacement of 599 is finally revealed. Since for very long time, I always admire the V12 powered Ferraris. There are rare, more exclusive, more powerful and sounds better. Many people may not have the chance spot a V12 Ferrari, because they are really really expensive. As many people just buy Ferrari to show their financial success, a V8 powered is enough for them.
Anyway, here is the new 620 GT! 720PS from 6,3-lt V12 petrol engine, 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in 3,0 seconds and more than 340 kph (212 mph) top speed. Wait for 29th February for more information.

New Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG

Today Mercedes released the photos and information about the new SL 63 AMG! I hope there won’t be SL 65 AMG, because with these performance figure, it will be really meaningless to offer it. Anyway, this new SL 63 AMG offers more power than ever, there is no point to have more!
So, I need to mention about the engine. Unfortunately, the engine is the same as the outgoing model 5,5-lt twin turbo V8, which produces 537PS or 564PS and 800nm or 900nm of torque. Why I did use the “or”. Because, Mercedes offers additional AMG Performance Package that will give you extra horse power, torque, handling, accuracy and 300 kph (186 mph) top speed. I can assume that with the Performance Package, you would have relatively slow, relative less handling and relatively under powered car.
Anyway, let’s go back to figures. Finally, Mercedes managed to reduce the weight by using aluminium and carbon fibre overall the car. I don’t mean the carbon fibre used in interior design. They used them in proper way. By doing this, this new SL 63 AMG is 1845 kg, less than 2-tonnes is a very good job for a car that offers ventilated seats and radar guided cruise control.
Unfortunately, the AMG engine is not capable of revving very high rpm. I really don’t know why but it is limited with 5500 rpm. Again unfortunately, new BMW 3,0-lt triple turbo powered diesel does the same rpm level. And Ferrari 458 can go up to 9000 rpm! Sometimes Mercedes thinks too much about comfort. Just rev the engine as much as possible :)
When it comes to acceleration, the relative slow model needs 4,3 seconds for 100 kph (62mph) and faster model needs 4,2 seconds! But, the main point is the acceleration while on move, because this new engine has lots of torques. And lots of torques mean one thing, you can accelerate like nothing on this earth! And all these power is sent by 7-speed double clutch gearbox.
I am pretty sure that Mercedes again achieved to make a very powerful sport car that can be driven at lower speed and inside the city. The main problem of very fast cars, they are terrible as low speeds. The gearbox is annoying, there is rear view, suspension is pain and it goes like that. However, Mercedes is perfect combining the both and making a car driveable while, you are going slow.

The Best Car on Earth! The Most Complicated Question

The best on earth is the most complicated question on earth! Everyone has a different opinion, even every nation has its unique opinion. Most of the time, people never agree on a single brand for the best! The conversation starts with Mercedes, jumps to BMW, later on Land Rover, just pass by Audi, moves to Aston Martin, quickly ends up with Bentley! In the meantime, someone says something about Bentley and we start overall again.

In order to resolve this very important issue, I end up with making the best car on planet from the brands that we know. First of all, all electronics are made by Bosch and Siemens. You cannot change this, and I am moving on.

Here are my categories for the best car!

I start with Exterior Design; I suggest Frank Stephenson as the best designer. His work can be spotted anywhere on earth and probably his designs are more popular than the Da Vinci’s paints! Welcome to world of social media.

Engine should be designed and manufactured by BMW. They offer the lowest CO2 level and efficiency with the best power output. Also, BMW has Formula 1 racing history. Don’t start saying, Ferrari is better. I am trying to find the best of everything.

Transmission should be manufactured by Ferrari. Their new double clutch gearbox is a state-of-art technology, which combines the comfort of a conventional automatic gearbox with the aggressiveness of Formula 1 shifting speed.

Chassis is really important and should be done by McLaren. They introduced the first carbon fibre technology in Formula 1 races and they always use this material for their road cars (Such as; Mercedes McLaren SLR and MP4-12C). In addition, nobody can manufacture the carbon fibre faster and better than McLaren.

Interior Design, this category has one option and it is called Rolls Royce. They are the best in interior design and comfort. All their cars are beyond extreme comfort. You have to experience it, before judging it.

Safety is the job of the Mercedes-Benz. They introduced the ABS, ESP, ASR, crash prevention systems. Nearly every three or four years, they introduce state-of-art road safety technologies and the competitors cannot keep most of the time.

Computer Interface! Unfortunately, automotive industry still is not good when it comes to design user interface for cars. I cannot ignore the improvement, but still the screen quality is low, menus are sometimes complicated, touch screen may not be that good at sensing the touch. So, there is only one company left for this and it is Apple. Just look at the iPhone, iPad or iPod; they all easy to use and work seamlessly.

Lastly the ignition key! I cannot think any other brand than Aston Martin for this job. They are doing amazing job with their crystal ignition keys.

In the end, in order to manufacture the best car, you need to combine many different brands that would lead to destroy the excitement of driving a car! Each brand has its own unique characteristics, which makes them unique and diversifies from others. So, the best car is the best one that satisfy your need, not others!

Interview with Al Clarke

I have in UK for nearly three years for my studies. During this time, there are some important moments that changed my life. One of this moment is MIPAA. MIPAA is motoring industry public affairs association, which was founded on 1968. However, I met with MIPAA through twitter during last summer. With just a hash tag #mipaa, and then I entered into a new world. 
Later on, I attended my first event on June. I still remember the Al’s phone call and his greeting in Audi Quattro Rooms. Since that time, I attended many events and met with many people from automotive industry. This helped me a lot, honestly worth to many early trains from Birmingham. And everything started with hash tag on twitter #mipaa.
After all these time, I wanted to help to increase the awareness of MIPAA and thank to Al for his helps. So, yesterday I had an interview with him in London. We talked about MIPAA, Mayor of London Boris Johnson’s award, future of social media, working in Ferrari. The rest of the conversation is on YouTube.

Prada’s Inspiration from 1950s American Cars

Sometimes I am missing really impressive news on media! Actually, I felt guilty for missing this amazing and interesting news from Prada!

Prada revealed this season’s shoes collection. Actually, there is nothing wrong with this and I am not supposed to mention this on a car blog. However, Prada is inspired by American cars from 1950s! Huge, covered with lots of chrome, extreme soft suspension with no handling at all, petrol consumption more than a jumbo jet and etc. Don’t worry, these high heels do not consume any petrol but they may need parking sensor while walking, thanks to sharp edges and long wings! On the other hand, these heels may offer very pleasant journey, sorry walking, as they are inspired by 1950s American cars.

From design perspective, they made an amazing job while transforming the design elements from cars to shoes. I salute them! However, I don’t understand why they ignored or skipped the European cars during 1950s! Jaguar, Aston Martin, Mercedes, Bentley, Maserati, Ferrari, Fiat and many others. They have amazing designs, they look perfect from every angle and nothing is exaggerated like American cars at those times. Especially, the Italian brands were amazing! And Prada is an Italian brand, I really don’t know why they ignored the European cars and jump into American cars.

I hope they won’t reveal a collection that is inspired by 1980s Jeep Cherokee :)

Interview with Frank Stephenson

My trip to McLaren Technology HQ and interview Frank Stephenson (Design Director of McLaren).

Firstly I would like to start with Frank. He is the design director of McLaren and worked in Ford, BMW, Mini, Ferrari, Maserati, Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo and McLaren. You can find more information on interview. I had a great time with Frank in McLaren; he toured me around the building and showed every single place. The McLaren is really huge and I cannot define how it looks wonderful! After today, I can clearly say, Frank is a great designer and also a very nice person; and passionate with this work. When you listen to him, you understand the meaning of being a designer. And explain the designing a car with very simple words. I cannot ignore his passion to motorcycle. Honestly, after I had chat with him my perception towards motorcycle are changed. I never approach to them from the perspective Frank described me. You can find more about him in interview where you can find below.

Let’s go back to McLaren headquarters in Woking, UK. Woking is a very nice, small city, silent, relaxing and lots of green. Inside the green, there is the McLaren HQ. The structure of the building totally part of the nature, there is an artificial lake, precisely placed tree. While I was there, the view from the window was like a canvas. The building and nature so well integrated with each other and you would never think that McLaren is producing cars here, but they do.

I want to talk about the building a little bit more. It is a total perfection, everything is perfectly designed, measurement are precise. The air is in same temperature in each room, there is no thermal shock here. You don’t feel the cold weather from outside. And they achieved to isolate the smell in the food court from the rest of the building. By maintaining different air pressures.

The front part of the building is covered with glass and there are some curves. When it was first made, the wind was vibrating the glass. And McLaren F1 engineers designed a metal structure to eliminate this vibration through F1 technology.

And the corridors, when you first get inside you have the feeling that, I am in a James bond movie. Everywhere is perfect white, no dust or dirt at all. You go from tunnels, take lift with circular glass doors. There is nothing can annoy you with the building. Don’t think that, it is just limited with the management part.

I visited the manufacturing site of MP4-12C, where they produce the car. Manufacturing plant is usually involves with dirt, oil, bad odour. However, it looks cleaner than hospitals. I am extremely serious! The manufacturing site is so clean, and you started to question your personal cleanliness.

The paint shop? It is supposed to be dirty but it is cleaner than my five start hotels! Each car is painted by hand with people who are expert on their job. Perfection does not finish here, McLaren does not paint the parts of the cars separately. In order to sustain the same level of paint, all parts are painted together.

Later on, the rain test. I was expecting to see some water but no! They test each car with rain test and no single drop at all. And last, the high speed test inside a glass room. It is also supposed to smell exhaust gas but again there is no smell at all.

I saw manufacturing plants but I have never seen something like this on earth. And possibly cannot see in future as well. Even the manufacturing team wear Hugo Boss dresses from head to toe! They don’t have that ugly dresses like in other companies.

The MP4-12C, I witness to each stage of this car manufacturing. From naked chassis to ready for delivery. The manufacturing is so perfect, there is nothing wrong with the car. It is built like a luxury sedan. Parts are matching with no gap, the door is opened by sliding your fingers. The rear air brake works with hydraulic and acts as a proper air brake like in an airplane. One other example, navigation screen placed vertical to keep the car narrow!

The best part is the front head lights, at night you see the McLaren’s logo illuminated with LEDs and fins of sharks below it.

Lastly, McLaren is going to reveal more models! I don’t want to give more details. But I assure that, Veyron will not be alone anymore.

From what I see today, if you are planning to buy an exclusive sports cars. There is only one choice, McLaren MP4-12C. From design studio to customer delivery preparation, everything is perfect!

Is that all from McLaren, of course not ;) I want to keep some secret…
