This is the New Porsche Panamera

New Porsche Panamera

The second generation Porsche Panamera is here. The cash maker, the family car, the first generation four-door Porsche achieved more than 150,000 sales and the second generation is here to satisfy even more. Do I like the Panamera?  Yes.  It’s great that Porsche keeps manufacturing the 911. No, the Panamera is not a proper Porsche.

So what is new about the second generation Panamera? Rear-axle steering! When you steer in a particular direction, the rear wheel steering reduces your turning circle and improves the high speed handling. The hard keys on the dashboard are reduced and I hope that we won’t get lost inside the menus . In case you would like to enjoy a diesel Porsche, now you can order one with an all-wheel drive, the Porsche Panamera 4S Diesel. It will be a best seller and I loved it. However, I would never buy it!  The Panamera 4S Diesel is powered by a V8 diesel (422 HP, 850nm) with the top speed of 285 km/h and it reaches 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds (Sport Chrono Pack).

The other exciting update is the introduction of night vision with a thermal camera that shows humans or animals at night on the screen. The other exciting feature is the InnoDrive. This is a navigation system that adjust your adaptive cruise control’s speed based on the upcoming road terrain. A similar system is also available with the new BMWs. The headlights can be now ordered with LEDs.

Inside the new Panamera, unfortunately you won’t find the same number of gadgets and driving assistance systems that are available in the Mercedes S-Class.

It is a very good looking car, and you can’t argue that it is an improvement it terms of its interior quality and its driving characteristics. Would I buy over a Porsche 911? No! But I would prefer it over many other cars at this segment.

2014 Porsche Panamera Facelift Photos were Leaked!

 
Facelifted Porsche Panamera photos were leaked to internet. Porsche Panamera is the four-door vehicle from the legendary brand Porsche. Many people criticised Porsche for introducing a four-door model but, this did not prevent people to buy or emerge desire to own a Panamera. I am one of those people as well.
Facelifted Porsche Panamera does not look very different than the previous model. You can easily notice the design inspiration from the concept vehicle Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo.
Another big news is the engine range, Panamera S E-Hybrid model features a 3-lt V6 petrol engine with a lithium-ion battery pack. And this combination generates 410 HP of power. Panamera S E-Hybrid will accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds with the top speed of 269 km/h. And the CO2 pollution will be less than 100 g/km and this will help to avoid taxation in many different markets and free of Congestion Charge in London.
Porsche Panamera S model without any electricity will feature the new twin-turbo V6 3-lt petrol engine. It will develop 413 HP and 521 Nm of torque and 18% more efficiency than the previous model.

Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo (Video)

Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo or Porsche Estate! This will be a new car from Porsche to extend their product range and compete with the new Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake (Estate) and M5 Estate and RS6 Avant as well. Panamera Sport Turismo is more spacious than the normal Panamera and taller! So, Sport Turismo will be between the Cayenne and Panamera. 
That’s a quite interesting gap and I really wonder what is the motivation to buy a sport estate car? It is totally a different type of thinking and different type of market, which I would never understand. 
However, Porsche did a great with this new Sport Turismo and it looks quite nice. Despite this fact, I would not buy one but if you want something between Cayenne and Panamera, this is the best car for you!

Paris Motor Show: Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Concept

Porsche revealed Panamera Sport Turismo Concept model during the Paris Motor Show. Last one decade, Porsche revealed Cayenne and succeed, revealed Panamera succeed and I am definitely sure that, Panamera Sport Turismo will succeed as well. Porsche is very good at achieving success with interestingly looking cars, such as Panamera Sport Turismo.
Panamera Sport Turismo represent the new path of Porsche’s design approach  As you can see there are not exterior mirrors, they are replaced with cameras. I assume, it won’t be that practically to check screen instead of mirrors. Full digital instrument panel will be present in future Porsche models, which I really don’t like!
Panamera Sport Turismo is a hybrid and powered by 3-lt V6 petrol engine with 333 PS and coupled with 95 PS electric motor powered by a 9.4 kWh li-ion battery. This combination generates 416 PS of power! Sport Turismo only need less than six seconds to reach 100 kph, with 3.5 lt/km consumption level. 82 g/km is the CO2 level for the Porsche. 
From top to bottom, Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is very interesting :)

Today in many website you might have seen this video. The police fleet of Qatar! Unlike any other nation, Qatar decided to use Porsche Panameras and Cayennes as the police vehicles! Interestingly, even German police does not have this luxury.

Symbol of Wealth in 21th Century: More buttons in Porsche Panamera

The symbol of wealth is an important incentive for people buy particular brands, I know this sounds very marketing lecture book but this is the reality. In every time era, people found a way to express their wealth and this is quite easy when you have lots of money to spend. During 18th century, there was something called “window tax” in UK and I am pretty sure that money people had window just to show their purchasing power! In 19th century, there were lots of new inventions to buy and you had chance to travel US by cruise ship called Titanic. But this was not a very effective way to show your wealth

Anyway, now you can buy Vertu phones, shop from Harvey Nichols grocery and literally you have infinite opportunity to show your wealth!

During my last London visit, I have been to Porsche dealer to satisfy pleasures! I did not have chance to check Panamera and Cayenne. Thankfully the Porsche stuff was very kind and I have adequate time to play with the cars. And I noticed something!

If you pay more, you get more buttons in Porsche! Especially in Panamera! Even though some of the buttons do not mean anything but you have extra buttons to push.

There are 23 different buttons in both sides of the gear lever! I did not count the ones above the lever. Just left and right sides. Climate control, suspension firmness, suspension height, exhaust pleasure, traction control off, auto start/stop off, sport, hard core sport, I want to show my rear wind button, rear window something, heated seats and that’s all. I am sure that if you put these buttons in driving license examination half of the candidate would definitely fail!

What we learn from this? If you see more buttons in a Panamera, the owner has money than you have :)
