The New Porsche 911

The new Porsche 911 is here, more precisely the face-lifted Porsche 911. However, this facelift is not what you would expect to see from an ordinary facelift.

Something has dramatically changed with the 911! The Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S models do not offer atmospheric engines any longer. They both feature turbo engines. That isn’t a typo. The Porsche 911 family now features turbo engines besides the 911 Turbo model.

Why did Porsche leave the atmospheric engines? Simple! Consumption and CO2 regulations.

  • Let’s go back to the facelift. I will not dramatize each new function and will write them straightforwardly.
  • Rear-wheel steering. It is optional, not super innovative. Nevertheless, worth getting.
  • Multi-touch Porsche Communication Management (PCM). Now, it senses multi-touch, so buy it! It also can recognise handwriting.
  • Carrera features 3-lt 370 HP and S features 3-lt 420 HP, thanks to the turbo.
  • Now you have Porsche’s Manetinno system, and you can choose different driving modes. Normal, Sport, Sport Plus, and Individual, like in the Audi.
  • The Sport Response Button helps you to improve your overtaking manoeuvre better and faster. I wonder whom will you be trying to overtake with a Porsche and run out of power?
  • New PASM suspension system can lower the car 10 mm!
  • Now, you can lift the front of the car 40 mm to save the front-end from steep hills and speed bumps.
  • Your iPhone can run on the PCM system thanks to Apple CarPlay, and Apple’s best navigation system Google Earth + Google StreetView will company CarPlay.
  • Optional automatic speed control can brake the car while using cruise control. Buy it. It is useful.
  • The pre-collision system is standard with all models, and that’s really good. None of the competition offers this technology.
  • Lane assist and blind spot assists are optional, and you should get them.

The new Porsche 911 created a new chapter in its story. With the turbo engines, nothing will be the same again! Come on, go buy one!

Second Hand Porsche Carrera GT

Second hand Porsche Carrera GT, I wasn’t planning to start with this, but last week I saw a Porsche Carrera GT up close for the first time. However, it wasn’t brand new. It was second hand at a dealership in Mayfair, London.

Twelve years ago the Carrera GT was an outstanding car along with the Ferrari Enzo and Mercedes McLaren SLR. However, due to the GT’s driving character, they are one of the lesser-spotted super cars. The Carrera GT was only available with a manual gearbox and the clutch was quite hard to control as it was ceramic. Therefore, I’ve never come across one to take some photos. On the other hand it’s really easy spot a SLR or an Enzo. They are more driver-friendly, relatively. Driver friendliness is an important issue for many super car buyers; they don’t want to deal with a heavy clutch or steering wheel while heading to a night club.

Even though the Carrera GT is more than twelve years old (production year 2004), it is still extremely powerful! The GT was powered by a 5-lt V10 petrol engine with 612 HP and 590 Nm of torque. It needs only 3.7 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) with a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph).

These figures were mind-blowing twelve years ago, and in 2015 are still mind-blowing! Though you won’t be able to connect your iPhone or charge or your iPad, I’ll bet these factors wouldn’t bother anyone the least inside a Carrera GT.

Price?

£550,000!

Porsche 911 Targa 4S from Mayfair, London | Canon 50 mm f 1.8

Porsche 911 Targa 4S from Mayfair, London Porsche dealer. When you first hear the Targa and if you were born in early 1980s, you just have flashbacks. I don’t know why but Porscge 911 Targa always reminds me the 1980s. However, the latest Porche 911 Targa looks a bit old school with the exposed metal anti-roll bar.

Honestly, I am not a fan of the soft-top Porsche  911s. I prefer the coupe all the time. However, the unique style of the metal anti-roll bar and the roof mechanism changed my perception.

You might be thinking, soft-top Porsche 911 will suffer from the lack of leg room at the rear seats! Yes, the leg room at the rear seats are near to nothing. But you won’t have a first class airliner comfort with the Porsche 911 Coupe.

In my opinion, Porsche 911 is a two-seater car, don’t force people seat at the rear! How 911 Targa drives? I have no idea, but it sounds amazing. Also, it should give a great driving experience for long journeys. The lack of room may reduce the rolling resistance of the body but I don’t think 911 Targa customers are looking forward to push their cars to those limits!

Does Porsche 911 Targa worth to buy? Yes! And as usual, the photos were taken by Canon 50 mm f 1.8 lens!

Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS | Autosport International 2015

Porsche revealed the 911 Carrera GTS model during the Autosport International 2015. GTS is a proper driver’s car. You experience the Porsche 911 without any unnecessary extras and also, it is not extremely hard-core, so you spine will stay on piece. Personally, I really love any Porsche 911. But I appreciate the relatively hard-core models more! That’s why I was really excited with the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS during the Autosport International.

This Carrera 4 GTS was featuring the iconic 7-speed manual gearbox. As I don’t like manual gearboxes, I wasn’t excited that much. But offering 7-speed is an epic experience to see. That’s why you will see some artistic photos! Unfortunately, 7-speed manual gearbox makes the Carrera 4 GTS 0.2 (4.2) slower to reach 100 km/h. The double clutch one only needs 4 seconds to reach 100 km/h.

So go for the double clutch, because it matches the performance of the Carrera 4 GTS! GTS’s engine produces 430 HP from its 3.8-lt boxer engine with 440 nm of torque. and the top speed is 302 km/h for double clutch gearbox, just 2 km/h slower.

Porsche Design Bracelet USB Memory | Christmas Gift Idea

Porsche Design interpreted the USB memory with a stylish touch, a bracelet USB stick! Definitely a great Christmas gift idea! Nowadays, wearable gadgets are the trending topic on fashion and tech industry. However, the approach of the Apple iWatch reduce the tendency of consumers to purchase any other products. Therefore, it is a bit dangerous ground to establish a new product.

However, Porsche Design found a great area that is free! Wearable USB stick. It is not a brand new technology but they translated the ugly plastic USB into a wearable fashion item. And I really liked it! Even though, we all have cloud storage on Dropbox or Google Drive, we may need to have a USB stick but they are ugly and hard to carry with you.

Porsche Design’s resolves this problem with this 16 GB bracelet. It is offered with black plastic or shinny metal straps. I really don’t like any shinny metal, it looks awful. And I would definitely stick to black one! It is €345, I know it is not cheap but that’s a Porsche Design product!

New Porsche Cayenne (Face Lift)

Face lifted Porsche Cayenne is revealed few weeks ago. Personally, I really like the second generation Porsche Cayenne. Even though, Cayenne is contradicting with Porsche heritage but I really appreciate the high quality interior and ground breaking technology. And Cayenne can do some  off road as well. In case, you are keen on going off road, just buy a Toyota Land Cruiser!

The new Cayenne offer standard LED headlights. Improved efficiency thank to air flaps position in front of the radiators. Also, Cayenne S E-Hybrid is the first plug-in hybrid SUV on market. Cayenne S E-Hybrid is powered by a 95 HP electric motor with 10.8 kWh battery with the range of 36 km and limited top speed of 125 km/h. The petrol engine is a 3-lt supercharged V6 with 333 HP and with the combination of both power units, Cayenne S E-Hybrid generates 416 HP and 590 nm of torque. The top speed is 243 km/h and only 5.9 seconds is needed to reach 100 km/h. CO2 emission level is 79 CO2/km but this level does not provide you any exemption from the London Congestion Charge!

Also, Cayenne S does not offer a V8 anymore and features a 3.6-lt bi-turbo.  And you can find the spec of the of Turbo, Turbo S, Diesel and Diesel on Porsche’s website. Because, it was too much of boring data.

Personally, I really like the Cayenne with the recent face lift. Also, E-Hybrid is a great innovation for this segment. Unfortunately, Cayenne may not offer the same off road ability like the Range Rover but the rest of technology packed inside the Cayenne is way way better than Range Rover. The BMW X5 offers more pre-crash and intelligent driving assistance than the Cayenne but there is no plug-in hybrid version of X5 yet. And also, Cayenne looks way better than the X5.

Does Cayenne worth to buy? Yes!

Porsche 911 Turbo Active Aerodynamics

I always adored the active and really working aerodynamics. And Porsche recently released a video of the latest 911 Turbo with the Active Aerodynamics. My personal opinion for the active aerodynamics, they should be there if really should be there!

The Truth Behind the Stuck Porsche Macan at Press Day in Morocco

The truth behind the stuck Porsche Macan during the press day in Morocco. Probably you saw the photo of stuck Porsche Macan and towed by a Dacia Duster, it was taken by Gavin Green (Editor of Car Magazine). Personally, I thought the story was a bit unreal or setup? Even though, I only attended very few press days, there is always a recovery vehicle, safety notes and you would never end up with a Dacia Duster towing your press car.

So, I decided to analyse the seconds before the disaster. However, I didn’t have chance to send a drone. But I did some online research and tried to find people, who were at the event. Eventually, I found the real story.

Honestly, I was really curious about the incident. There is always some incidents happen during the press days but getting rescued by a local Dacia Duster?

Let’s go back to seconds before the disaster! We will investigate the series of actions that lead an innocent Porsche Macan to get stuck in Morocco and rescued by a Dacia Duster!

• Morning of the incident: Journalists were on a Porsche media event in Morocco in Macan.

• Half an hour later after departing from the hotel, one journalist excited to assess Macan’s off-road ability.

• Ten minutes before the incident, journalist made a cursory check of the terrain before heading off road. But didn’t notice the soft sand.

• 30 seconds before the incident, the innocent Porsche Macan approached to soft sand.

• Two seconds before the incident, the Macan sank into soft sand and beached on a crest.

• Despite some help from locals trying to push, the wheels had bogged in too far (This means journalist were pushing too hard to rescue. Never push hard when you are stuck. Stop for a minutes, get out of the car and asses the situation. Otherwise, our emotional behaviours will make things worse)

• After the all efforts, a freelance photographer nearby who had hired a local Dacia Duster offered to attach a rope to assist the Macan’s removal. However, the journalists could have called the Emergency Numbers provided in the road book for nearby Cayennes to arrive, but accepted this offer instead!

• The Duster helped pull the Macan out of the sand. Probably most cars could have assisted, as they would have the benefit of grip on the hard surface (Additionally, Duster doesn’t have any low-range or differential locks to save the Macan).

• The pair went on to drive the car on very tough terrain and were really impressed with it.

My personal view for the Porsche Macan? I really didn’t take this incident seriously and still listed as my future SUV! If you are planning to go for a serious off road experience, buy a real SUV with low-range and three differential locks. Don’t try with a Macan.

McLaren P1 vs. Ferrari LaFerrari vs. Porsche 918 Spyder Specs

McLaren P1 vs. Ferrari LaFerrari vs. Porsche 918 Spyder. The most important question of the world! Okay, I know there are more important issues than comparing €1-million cars. But, the last time I saw this competition, there was no iPhone and Nokia was the leader of the market and Kate Upton was drinking her milk before sleeping. I mean the year, 2004! Ferrari Enzo vs. Mercedes McLaren SLR vs. Porsche Carrera GT.
And during last one decade, we didn’t see any exciting cars like these. We had ordinary cars, except Bugatti Veyron and Pagani. As they are living on a different planet. I really love the competition between Ferrari, Porsche and McLaren. Which is my favourite? All of them :)
But I will end up with a BMW i3, because it is cheaper to run. So, I have the words to compare these cars but, lack of the imagination to own one of them. Just compare the specs and decide which is your best.
Keep in mind, Porsche 918 Spyder is exempt from London congestion charge.

Autosport International 2014 #asi14 | Porsche 911 GT3

Autosport International 2014 is finished last week but I couldn’t manage to post all the photos. And here is the Porsche 911 GT3!

Porsche revealed the latest 911 model, GT3 at Autosport International 2014. Personally, I found 911 GT3 amazing! Perfect for daily driving and track. 911 GT3 comes with standard PDK automatic gearbox and I love automatics. Sorry, I am a bit against to the manuals.

911 GT3 produces 475 HP, 440 Nm from 3.8-lt engine. Only needs 3.5 seconds to reach 100 km/h and the top speed is 315 km/h. The total weight 1.5-tonne!
