New Third Generation Smart

New third generation Smart was revealed last week ForTwo and ForFour. What I think? If you are planning to buy a Smart, but it now before new model will be available. I really like the Smart first and second generations. They had a very beautiful design and unique character. However, the third generation Smart became really ugly. I really don’t know why but it looks ugly. May be the reason is the collaboration with Renault and sharing platforms. But still Mercedes should have room to design the third generation Smart that does resemble with the previous generations.
By the way, this is the second generation Smart ForFour, the first generation was revealed nearly ten years ago and failed due to very high pricing strategy and everything was optional extra.
Unfortunately, with this design I no longer like the Smart!

Renault Commercial Vehicles at the CV Show 2014

Renault commercial vehicles at the CV Show 2014 featured wide range of electric vehicles. I have never expected to see this wide range of electric vehicle on commercial range. Of course, the electric vehicles were not the vans or trucks. There was a Twizy commercial version with a missing rear passenger seat. And electric version of Kangoo Van Z. E.

Renault Twizy in Dubai Police Fleet

Renault Twizy in Dubai Police. During last few weeks, Dubai Police department revised their police fleet for car speed chases. As you all know that, the fleet is revised with Bugatti Veyron, Mercedes SLS AMGBentley Continental GTAston Martin One-77,Lamborghini Aventador. After the Bugatti Veyron, I was expecting to see a F35 jet fighter inside this fleet but Dubia Police decided extend the range with electric Renault Twizy.
Renault Twizy is powered by a 20 HP electric motor with 57 Nm of torque. The top speed is 75 km/h, thus there is no 0 – 100 km/h acceleration. And the range is 100 KM with a 3-hour charge with 220 Volts.

The Most Sympathetic Car Show, Москва 24!

The most sympathetic car show, Москва 24! You probably never predict the answer, sorry it is not the one starts with T or F. The most sympathetic car show is from Russia by Anastasia Tregubova. According to my content, you may think I have a biased view. But No! This is a very objective judgement. Until Kate Upton starts a car show :)
I watched many car shows since I started to watch TV. There were some terrible, some excellent, some creative, some boring, some inspiring and some nothing! However, most of the shows had a similar concept. More or less they were the same or they reached their creative boundaries and entered into a loop!
The thing I like with Anastasia’s Москва 24 is the naïve character of the show. She is not trying to burn tyre or racing with F35 jet plane or pushing boundaries to make us laugh. What Anatasia does, a car show made by a women :) Москва 24 is like Maserati GranTurismo; combination of feminine curves with muscular lines. I really don’t find interesting to see smoke coming from the tyres at 200 km/h inside a corner, because it is the loop which I found not anymore interesting.
Москва 24 is in Russian and I have no clue what Anastasia says during the show, actually YouTube translates it but, still I have no clue. But I like the concept of the show and the scenario, simple and elegant. I am expecting Anastasia to do the show in English in future :)
And now you can jump to news from Das Neu Mercedes S-Klasse! Sorry the new Mercedes S-Class.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Facelift Photos are Leaked!

Here is the Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift photos, it is not officially announced but thanks to GermanCarForum, they managed to find them. And according to responses from the forum and my personal view, I would like to celebrate the 2013 sales performance BMW 5-Series and Audi A6.

Facelifted Mercedes E-Class is unfortunately ugly. I am not fan of Mercedes but, they do have a very well designed cars like A-Class but Mercedes destroyed one of the best seller model, E-Class.

While making the lines softer, Mercedes designers created a look of melted E-Class :( And rear head light looks exactly same as in Mercedes GL.

However, if the rumours are true about the E-Class with 1.6-lt engine from Renault, Mercedes can compensate this ugly face with charming price, thanks to smaller engine!

Renault Latitude vs. VW Passat CC

Today I read one of the French magazine called Le Point. As I don’t know French, I didn’t understand anything! But suddenly I noticed the picture of Renault Latitude. There was an article about the car, probably a review of test drive by Emily Ryzat.
The interesting thing was the picture. Latitude was not something really different in terms of design. Especially, it reminded me another car! Such as, Volkswagen Passat CC. Just ignore the Renault logo from the front grille and you end up with Passat CC. The grille looks the same. This is really something unexpected from Renault. They always have a unique design concept.
I don’t like Renault cars but they always had a unique design concept which is mostly relies on their concept vehicle. But Latitude was a great shock for me, it was something similar to a competitor’s car. I know the Renault is trying to change it brand image and willing to be perceived as a premium, there is no problem with that.  Renault should not change its design concept. The main problem is, their production quality and reliability. They should transfer these two things from their competitors, instead of design concept.

Renault’s Hip Hop Bag

Pushing the limits of design, in terms of creativity sometimes cause terrible products. In terms of design, Renault is one of the very well respect company for concept cars and terrible at transferring to production. I don’t know how they manage to destroy a concept car in manufacturing process but it should be thought in operations management lecture as a case.
Renault Wind Roadster is a very good example for ugly Renault design. Actually the concept car version was also ugly. Anyway, I never noticed this car on advertisements. There were many in everywhere but the car was looking so weird and it never caught my attention. However it reminded me something very similar to this, Louis Vuitton Géronimos hip bag. This hip bag has the same characteristics as the Wind Roadster, looks weird and don’t know what to do with it. I have no idea how to use this bag for in men fashion, this product is present under “men” section not “women”.
Wind Roadster shares one more interesting with Ferrari 575 Superamerica. They both share the 180 degree turnable hard top. You just push a button and top of the car moves to top of the boot. In Ferrari, there was not cover and when you want to close your top, you will have the bird poo inside your side. Hopefully Renault did place a cover to prevent this unpleasant experience. Still Wind Roadster is ugly and probably it will disappear after end of its life-cycle.

Love Story; Mercedes & Renault

A new love story started! Mercedes and Renault. Two big car companies in different segments. Renault and Mercedes nearly do not have competitor vehicles. Yes, Mercedes A and B Class can be considered for some of the Renault cars but their marketing strategies are not targeting each other. So they are doing in the same business but in different universes.
Mercedes is very good at doing big car like S Class, E Class, GL Class and many more and rubbish at small ones! A and B Class are very good examples. I am not criticizing Mercedes for this failure because their experience is on different types of cars and that’s normal to fail in small cars. The story is same for Renault also. Renault is very good at small cars for long years; Clio, Megane, Twingo but rubbish at big ones VelSatis, Safrane! So, it is pointless for Renault to compete in luxury segments because nobody will buy one. Actually some people are buying but they might be owning Renault dealer. However, Mercedes wants to increase make A Class and Smart more competitive. In current condition, they are not!
In 2013, we will see half Renault half Mercedes cars like Smart and A Class and as usual, Mercedes will expand its Smart range with the help of Renault. I really wonder how Mercedes is doing to develop cars with Renault which is still cannot manage to manufacture a car without vibrating gear lever! Yes, every French cars unsolved problem, vibrating gear lever. I am pretty sure that, this problem with persist in Mercedes-Renault cars.
