Toyota C-HR by Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld was one of the most iconic fashion designers during his lifetime. His iconic black and white attire and distinctive style during every season always left a mark on fashion. Recently, Toyota Thailand decided to offer a limited edition version of C-HR by Karl Lagerfeld.

To be honest, I have no clue about what a C-HR is and what it does. From the looks of it, it looks like it is one of the hybrid SUV, coupe, and sedan vehicles. People love it, and the company is making it. I have no comment.

Anyway, the Karl Lagerfeld edition of the C-HR looks far better than the original, and it has a distinctive look and feel. Sadly, this edition is only available in the Thai market. I am sure that it would be worth giving this vehicle a try in the European markets.

Aston Martin Cygnet is Dead

Aston Martin Cygnet is dead! Today Aston Martin officially announced their decision to stop making Cygnet model. Honestly, I am bit sad with this news, despite all efforts tiny Cygnet could not keep up with its older siblings.
Since the Cygnet was revealed, it never managed to achieve any success or respected by the consumers. Aston Martin first announced that, Cygnet will be available to existing Aston Martin owners and they changed their mind and then they change their mind again. Because, it was based on Toyota iQ without any technical modification and didn’t have enough money to replace the Toyota details.
Honestly, it was obvious mistake since the beginning. Aston Martin tried to reduce their fleet emission level by cutting corners and did not manage to reveal a proper luxury small car. Actually, luxury small car market is immature. MINI Inspired by Goodwood version managed stay in dealers to attempt world record. Their demand is so niche and so weak, manufacturing is not a feasible option.
Now, Cygnet will take its place on Aston Martin’s history as a failure from the beginning. I am sure, the small luxury car market will expand in future as the younger generation who loves to play with iPhones gets older. However, wrapping up a Toyota iQ was not a very reasonable solution to reveal a luxury product.
If Bentley produces a small Bentley based Volkswagen Polo platform, it will be the right time!
Actually, I liked the Aston Martin Cygnet. It was a very cute car but its fate was not that bright. And I am really happy to see it in real life.

Aston Martin Cygnet for #PinItForwardUK

Aston Martin Cygnet, as known as the small Aston Martin or Aston Martin based on Toyota iQ. Whatever you call Cygnet, it is sold in Aston Martin dealers with a reasonable price tag. I barely had chance to see a Cygnet, since it was revealed. The main reason for this, Cygnet is an expensive small Aston Martin based on a Toyota, and people want to own a proper Aston Martin.

Despite all the negative reviews and opinions on Cygnet, I still like Cygnet. However, it is only in terms of design. Aston Martin managed to transfer its design culture to this small vehicle. And when you see the Cygnet, you easily understand it is an Aston Martin. This is the same for interior as well. Cygnet’s interior is full of leather and stiches, which is quite rare to spot inside a small Toyota. Even though some of the parts are the same Toyota, you still feel the Aston Martin design culture.

I still consider Aston Martin Cygnet under the fashion item or luxury handbag. Its design and price to functionality resemble with the expensive handbags.

Aston Martin Cygnet is powered by a 1.3-lt petrol engine with 98 HP and 125 Nm of torque. It is coupled with a CVT automatic gearbox. Cygnet needs 11.6 seconds to reach 100 km/h with the top speed of 170 km/h.

Twitter Interview with Scott Brownlee (PR Manager of Toyota GB) #toyotainterview

Today I did my first twitter interview with PR manager of Toyota GB, Scott Brownlee. I was a bit excited as it was my first live twitter interview, my previous interview always recorded and uploaded to YouTube later. However, this time what I wrote was going to be seen my hundreds of people.

During the interview with Scott Brownlee; we talked about Toyota Prius Hybrid, indestructible SUV Land Cruiser, new sports car GT86 and future of social media. Also, he reminded the rally version of Toyota Prius from year 2002.

I totally forgot, Scott mentioned why Toyota Land Cruiser is one of the best SUVs on market.

You can read the rest of the interview here or check it from twitter by #toyotainterview hashtag.
My first twitter interview is with a #mipaa member #toyotapr, you can follow the conversation with #toyotainterview hashtag

@ToyotaPR And my next topic is #hybrid. If there is a conversation about #Toyota, we cannot skip the hybrid #toyotainterview
Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

@ToyotaPR Correct me if I am wrong, #Toyota is the first company introduced the mass-production #hybrid cars with #Prius #toyotainterview
Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

@uygarr To be fair, Honda were slight ahead with the original Insight, but Prius was a much bigger seller. #toyotainterview
Scott Brownlee ‏@ToyotaPR

@uygarr I remember the meeting where an engineer described this new technology to us. Amazing to think millions now sold #toyotainterview
Scott Brownlee ‏@ToyotaPR

@ToyotaPR Millions of #toyota #hybrid are driven. That’s a very big number and great achievement #toyotainterview
Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

@ToyotaPR especially in terms of #toyota reliability #toyotainterview
Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

@uygarr We have a couple of original Prius here, one standard and one a rally car. Very proud of that project. #toyotainterview
Scott Brownlee ‏@ToyotaPR

@ToyotaPR I know about the #prius #hybrid #rally car. Many people may not know it. Could you tell about it a bit? #toyotainterview
Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

@uygarr Sure. We were approached by a journalist, Nik Berg, with the idea which we thought was a good one…. #toyotainterview
Scott Brownlee ‏@ToyotaPR

@uygarr The rally was 5000 miles from Sweden Jordan. It became the world’s first hybrid to finish an FIA sanctioned event. #toyotainterview

Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

Scott Brownlee ‏@ToyotaPR

@uygarr Almost everywhere in the world apart from the UK Land Cruiser is the 4×4 of choice. #toyotainterview
Scott Brownlee ‏@ToyotaPR

@uygarr There is an apocryphal story about a road in Australian outback which has a sign reading… #toyotainterview
Scott Brownlee ‏@ToyotaPR

Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

@ToyotaPR And why we don’t see many #toyota #landcruiser in UK? #toyotainterview
Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

@uygarr In the UK we are in Land Rover’s home market so we understand it is different. #toyota #landcruiser #toyotainterview
Scott Brownlee ‏@ToyotaPR

@uygarr I like to think UK Land Cruiser customers buy for a purpose, not posing ;-) #toyotainterview
Scott Brownlee ‏@ToyotaPR

@ToyotaPR That’s why I love #toyota #landcruiser #toyotainterview
Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

@ToyotaPR And I have noticed something with #Toyota #LandCruiser. It is the most common security vehicles for politicians #toyotainterview
Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

@ToyotaPR We always see Toyota Land Cruiser in the convoys regardless of country. Why #LandCruiser? #toyotainterview
Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

@uygarr I think it is a sixty plus year reputation for reliability in many countries, especially Middle East and Africa #toyotainterview
Scott Brownlee ‏@ToyotaPR

@uygarr Combined with Hilux, our other indestructible 4×4, the Land Cruiser is very common when the going is tough #toyotainterview
Scott Brownlee ‏@ToyotaPR

@ToyotaPR that explains everything about #toyota #landcruiser and #hilux #toyotainterview
Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

@ToyotaPR And #socialmedia. What do you think about the future of #socialmedia in #automotive industry? #toyotainterview
Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

Scott Brownlee ‏@ToyotaPR

@ToyotaPR a note, I met with you from twitter before #mipaa event #toyotainterview
Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

@ToyotaPR I totally agree with you. And this makes #socialmedia dynamic and creates its own path for #marketing and #pr #toyotainterview
Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

@uygarr We have a social team here at @ToyotaGB. Our greatest advocates are our owners and potential owners… #toyotainterview

Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

Scott Brownlee ‏@ToyotaPR

@ToyotaPR that’s exactly what we are doing #bloggers, and great to hear from a such big company #toyota #toyotainterview
Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

@uygarr I am very lucky. Not only do I get to drive all the Toyota and Lexus range, we borrow competitors cars too. #toyotainterview
Scott Brownlee ‏@ToyotaPR

@uygarr This week we have something of both at once – an Aston Martin Cygnet. #toyotainterview

Scott Brownlee ‏@ToyotaPR

@ToyotaPR Did you like the Aston Martin Cygnet? #toyotainterview
Uygar Kilic ‏@uygarr

New Video from Toyota GT86 with Edith Piaf

Toyota GT86 is a new era for Toyota. Since many decades, Toyota did not introduce any rear-wheel drive sports cars. Instead of that, Toyota introduced more family cars, more hybrids and finally they decided to go back to Toyota Supra age.
Toyota GT86 does not have a very charming brand but it looks great! If we exclude the Toyota Land Cruiser, GT86 is the best looking Toyota available on market. And for its price tag (£26.000), you will get 2-lt petrol engine with 240 PS, 6-speed automatic gearbox, keyless entry and engine start, bluetooth and many other toys. Toyota packed the GT86 with very good package.
And recently, Toyota released a video campaign for GT86. It starts inside a computer games and then drive escapes to real world. The idea is very creative, graphics are amazing and the song is from the movie Inception. The song is from Edith Piaf, Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien

New Toyota Land Cruiser V8

Toyota Land Cruiser V8, if you are interested on off road vehicles or SUVs, you would definitely know Land Cruiser. Otherwise, you don’t have a passion for off road! Toyota Land Cruiser is one of the oldest SUVs in the market. And in my opinion, Land Cruiser is the best looking Toyota for all time.

I am not a Toyota fan but Land Cruiser is different! Land Cruiser never breaks down, works at any condition. Leave a Land Cruiser for a half century and arrive with a battery and petrol and it will definitely be running. I have no idea how Toyota managed to create a vehicle that never destroyed by Mother Nature.

Land Cruiser is not only designed for off road, but also designed for on road as well. I cannot compare Land Cruiser with Porsche Cayenne for on road performance but Land Cruiser offers really high production quality and luxury for a vehicle that is supposed to be driven in the middle of nowhere. Also don’t try to compare the luxury of Land Cruiser with Range Rover, they are totally different vehicles!

With the latest model of Toyota Land Cruiser, there is a very nice function. Actually, this function is not available with any other vehicle. It is called off road Turn Assist. Turn Assist works in off road to reduce the amount of space for turning the Land Cruiser by breaking the rear wheel inside the corner. If you turn left, Land Cruiser will break the left rear wheel to reduce the turning circle. Turn Assist is a very cleaver function and very very useful for off road terrain. Land Cruiser is a quite large vehicle and this causes some difficulties vehicle making a turn.

Overall, Toyota Land Cruiser is state-of-art SUV, off road vehicle. I would never ever hesitate to buy one!

Toyota Land Cruiser V8 is powered by 4.5-lt turbo diesel engine with 286 PS of power and 650 Nm of torque with 6-speed automatic transmission.

Some of the features;

Advanced technologies for greater off-road driving capability
World-first Turn Assist, reducing vehicle turning radius when negotiating tight bends
Crawl Control with seven speed settings for steep incline climbs and descents
Multi-terrain Select with five modes to suit different off-road conditions
Multi-terrain Monitor providing 360-degree view of vehicle surroundings via four external cameras
Tyre Angle Display
Variable Flow Control power steering
New premium features including heated steering wheel, front seats with cooling and heating functions and memory settings, new-design 20-inch alloy wheels, powered upper tailgate section and bi-xenon headlamps

How Many Aston Martin Cygnet sold in UK on 2011?

Aston Martin Cygnet is one of the biggest question marks in automotive industry. It is popped up version of Toyota iQ! The engine is same, transmission is same, suspension is same; actually except exterior and interior, the rest of the car is same. Toyota delivers the iQ to Aston Martin semi-naked and, Aston Martin dresses up with lots of leather. However, you still have the same Toyota key! Therefore, I consider Cygnet as a fashion accessory. If I consider it as a luxury ultra mini car, I have to criticise the unchanged parts from Toyota and their restless harmony with the Aston Martin badge.
Recently, I found out that Aston Martin managed to sell only 89 Cygnets last year in UK. Just 89! From an optimistic perspective, Mercedes sold only 5 Maybachs in 2011! I guess 89 can be considered as a moderate success!
This two-digit number, 89, proofs that even people who will not bothered to spend £31.000 on a small car did not like the idea of Aston Martin’s Toyota iQ interpretation. If a car company plans to introduce a luxury model, they have to revise the engine software, exhaust design, suspension settings and offer the same key with the rest of the fleet! Honestly, I really like how Cygnet looks like but I would never pay that money!
In terms of fashion, this is like; Louis Vuitton buys unprinted t-shirts from H&M and sends to LV. Then LV, attaches some leather and replace the brand sticker inside and sell it under LV brand.

New Toyota Camry

When you are watching your favourite TV show, nobody wants to see ‘to be continued’. This destroys the excitement and most of the time annoys you. It may sound unusual but this also happens in automotive industry. Don’t worry, no one cuts the back end of a car and destroy your excitement. They do this through the design! Like Toyota did with the new Camry.
Recently, Toyota revealed the pictures of the new Camry. With each new Toyota, I always get excited to see a very unique design, however it didn’t happen that often. Like new Camry, Toyota only revealed a small portion. The front is disappointing but rear is much better. Actually it could be better but, weird angle of stop light destroys the harmony! Sure, it is too early to comment and judge on a new car with small details but I wanted share my thoughts based on these parts ;)

Mini: The Rolls Royce has its price tag now :)

Today I have two news! One of them is good and one them is bad. Let’s start with the good one; the price of Mini Inspired by Goodwood is announced and bad one is, it is too much.
My least favourite brand has the most charming model. This is how I define the Mini Inspired by Goodwood. I could not manage to love Mini but this Rolls Royce styled model altered my perception, but only for one model! The Goodwood model is a great composition of Rolls Royce and Mini together in one piece. You have the agility of the Mini and exquisite quality, comfort and design of a Rolls Royce at the same time. As I mentioned, this is the only Mini I would go for!
As this new model is based on Roll Royce philosophy, the price would not be at Mini levels. Eventually, it is expected to be at the Rolls Royce level or Aston Martin Cygnet level !?! This is the new trend, Aston Martin started with Cygnet and Rolls Royce followed by the Mini. Small luxury urban vehicle for people who already have a big luxury car but suffering serious problems to drive them around the city. And they don’t have a good small alternative car for their Rolls Royce or Aston Martin. So, Aston Martin revealed Toyota iQ based Cygnet and Rolls Royce revealed Mini based, Goodwood by Mini. However, there are no Rolls Royce logos or brand on the Mini Inspired by Goodwood.
Okay, the price £41,000! In terms of Euro and US Dollars, this is a lot of money. Because, its target customers are the people who already own a Rolls Royce! So, this is nothing for them. My opinion, wait for one year and buy Mini Inspired by Goodwood as second hand. It would be cheaper and a good deal!
