Lalique, crystal architecture by Zaha Hadid.
A few weeks ago, I had the chance to attend Lalique’s press day at their London store. The Lalique brand was founded more than 100 years ago in France. They are the pioneers of crystal manufacturing. For many years, the brand preserved their conservative designs, which were based on Art Nouveau.
But recently, Lalique worked with iconic designer Zaha Hadid for a special collection. Zaha Hadid is a very well-known London-based architect, and the first woman to win the coveted Pritzker Architecture Prize. The language of her designs gives character to their surroundings.
Hadid’s collection for Lalique reinterprets their traditionally conservative designs with a contemporary edge. Therefore, this collection creates a new path for Lalique and brings new clients to the brand.
Personally, I found the collection very exciting and it is the only chance to own a Zaha Hadid design, unless you can afford her architecture fees!
