The New BMW 7-Series in Parklane Mayfair, London

Finally, I managed to see the new BMW 7-Series in Parklane Mayfair, London. For many years, I couldn’t cover the 7-Series properly on my blog and had few chances to spot one at a dealer. However, this time BMW introduced a 7-Series that will make the Mercedes-Benz S-Class a bit outdated.

For many decades, the S-Class has been the pinnacle of automotive engineering and innovation and is still on top. However, the new BMW 7-Series is pushing really really hard, and until now the S-Class has never experienced this type of pressure for innovation from BMW in this segment.

Before I start to talk about the new 7-Series, there is one area in which the S-Class has dominated the 7-Series! It’s called Magic Road Scan. This technology can read the upcoming road surface and adjust the suspension to eliminate any imperfections that would be felt inside the cabin. The laser scanners develop a 3D map of the upcoming road surface, and the suspension is adjusted based on that data. Sounds crazy, but the S-Class can read the road surface, while 7-Series can’t at the moment.

And some of the ground-breaking features of the new BMW 7-Series;

  • Laserlight
  • Gesture control iDrive
  • Carbon-fibre body
  • Parking by a remove control
  • Rear-axle steering
  • Cross-traffic warning
  • Pedestrian recognition
  • Two-axle air suspension (For the first time in a BMW 7-Series)
