Montblanc Black and White Weeks from London | 90th Anniversary of Meisterstück

A few weeks ago, I had the chance to attend Montblanc’s Black and White Week event in London for the 90th Anniversary of Meisterstück. Meisterstück is the flag-ship fountain pen from Montblanc and one of the pioneers of fountain pen technologies.

Before the Miesterstück, fountain pens were experiencing air pressure level problems which led to ink dropping from the pen. Thanks to an innovative solution from Montblanc, a series of tiny canals was used to advert the effects of air pressure solving the ink drop problem.

Of course, Montblanc’s Black and White event was not only limited to fountain pens. I had the chance to view the wide range of Montblanc products: automatic wrist watches, iPad covers, leather goods, accessories and of course, fountain pens.

What Happened Apple CarPlay?

Yesterday Apple announced their future technologies but they did not mention about CarPlay. Did it fail? Or Apple is trying to cover up the CarPlay and trying us to forget it?

The reality behind the Apple CarPlay is, automotive industry cannot make a radical change like this. It takes a very long time to adapt all their in-car entertainment and navigation systems to be compatible with the Apple CarPlay. Unfortunately, the car industry does not reveal new vehicle every year and in Europe average product lifecycle of a car is 7-year!

But that cannot be an excuse to avoid a new technology, but the adaptation is costly and may not bring large amount of customers from their rival brands just for CarPlay feature.

As a result of Apple’s rapid product change strategy and automotive industry’s 7-year lifecycle resulted with the availability of CarPlay only with Ferrari FF, Mercedes CLA and Chevrolet Sonic. And I am not sure if you can purchase CarPlay in Europe as well!

And I did some background checks for the CarPlay from various car manufacturers and the result is? No. They all know the technology but that’s all, no production available to public.

One of the very well trusted Apple rumours website, macrumour.com and 9to5mac.com announced that Apple and Dr. Dre is nearly over. The main reason for this, Dr. Dre’s YouTube that does not match with the Apple’s cultural identity and freaked out the Apple executives. Still there are no official announcement from the Apple about the deal but it was not finalised when leaked to public.

And this is how Dr. Dr lost the 3.2-billion deal in 1:22 Minutes!

OnePlus One | Probably The Best Android Smart Phone

OnePlus is going to introduce their first and spectacular Android smart phone in few hours, OnePlus One. What is special with this new company with only eleven people! OnePlus is a real tiny company and they are going to introduce a smart phone that will change the rules of the market and freak out Samsung and probably Apple (Apple will definitely find a way to sue them).

So what is so special with OnePlus One and why you should replace your iPhone, Samsung or Sony? OnePlus One is cheap; 16GB is $299 and 64GB is $349. And these prices will be the same in European market as well. You might be thinking, there are lots of Android smart phone cheaper than this but they are useless.

And here comes to technical specification of the OnePlus One:

Snapdragon 801 four-core 2.5GHz CPU and Adreone 330, 578 MHz GPU
3GB DDR3 RAM running at 1866 MHz, this is more than iPhone 5S and Samsung Galaxy S5 and probably more than iPhone 6
5.5-inch Gorilla Glass 3 touch screen, 1080p Full HD (1920 x 1080), 401 PPI
3100 mAh battery
13-megapixel Sony Exmor IMX214 with 6-lense f/2.0 camera and 4K video recording
Android 4.4 KitKat with CyanogenMod interface

No SD card slot and I love it! Because, it is silly and useless and collects dust. High quality materials are used and for all these technical specification and the design, you pay literally nothing.

OnePlus One became so viral and definitely grab a huge Android market and people who are bored with iPhone conservative nearly four-year old design platform will shift to this smart phone.

Editing RAW Photos on A USB | Kingston DTM30 16GB

Editing RAW photos on a USB drive! Yes, I did it with Kingston DTM30 16GB! Sounds a bit crazy but I have an Apple MacBook Pro Retina with 128 GB SSD hard-drive and I had to edit huge amount of RAW photos. If I upload them to my hard-drive, I would lose lots of space and, I risked editing them through a USB drive.

The result? It worked perfectly. I never thought that a USB drive would be capable of achieving this performance for editing RAW photos. Because, each of these RAW photos were around 23 MB and the performance of the Kingston was really good!

Kingston DTM30 was designed for USB 3.0 and this provides 70 MB/sec reading and 10MB/sec writing speeds. So, the performance of this tiny USB drive was amazing! In case you need to edit RAW photos, you can rely on Kingston DTM30 but with a USB 3.0 port.

Recently I had chance to visit the Lalique‘s Mayfair, London store during their press day. And I am really impressed with their precision of manufacturing crystal and keeping their heritage. Most of the designs of the Lalique is quite traditional and I may say, conservative. However, the collection is not limited with the conservative design only, you have the chance to experience the Bentley‘s Flying B and very stylish rings. Definitely there is something in Lalique for different tastes.

A few weeks ago, I had the chance to attend Lalique’s press day at their London store. The Lalique brand was founded more than 100 years ago in France. They are the pioneers of crystal manufacturing. For many years, the brand preserved their conservative designs, which were based on Art Nouveau.

But recently, Lalique worked with iconic designer Zaha Hadid for a special collection. Zaha Hadid is a very well-known London-based architect, and the first woman to win the coveted Pritzker Architecture Prize. The language of her designs gives character to their surroundings.

Hadid’s collection for Lalique reinterprets their traditionally conservative designs with a contemporary edge. Therefore, this collection creates a new path for Lalique and brings new clients to the brand.

Personally, I found the collection very exciting and it is the only chance to own a Zaha Hadid design, unless you can afford her architecture fees!

Bentley for Men Intense perfume is recently revealed to public at Detroit Motor Show. No, I am joking. Bentley did not reveal the perfume on a motor show. Anyway, this is the first time Bentley introduces a perfume and did it properly.

Bentley for Men Intense created in France by Natahlie Lorson from Firmenich. This perfume promises; more leather, more spices and more patchouli. And unlike other fragrances from car companies, Bentley went straight forward to eau de Perfume with %15 of perfume. This means, you will buy perfume instead of water. Consider %15 as w12, %30 will be W12 Speed.

Anyway, the Bentley for Men’s scent family is woody – spicy – leather. Top scents are; black pepper, incense SFE and African geranium. Heart; clary sage, labdanum resin and leather NP. Base; cedar wood, patchouli and sandalwood. Thanks to new innovative technologies, the scent of leather is added to Bentley’s perfume. But don’t ask me how they did it.

As usual, the diamond-shaped polished metal knob represents the Bentley design and creates luxury feeling.
