Porsche 911 Turbo Active Aerodynamics

I always adored the active and really working aerodynamics. And Porsche recently released a video of the latest 911 Turbo with the Active Aerodynamics. My personal opinion for the active aerodynamics, they should be there if really should be there!

New Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S are Revealed!

New Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S. Unlike old times, Porsche decided to reveal the Turbo S model at the same time with the Turbo. Usually, Porsche reveals the 911 Turbo S by the end of the product life cycle to give some boost to sales figures. However, this time Porsche decided to revealed them together and sees how it goes.
First of all, new Porsche 911 Turbo is super sexy! Probably the looking Turbo ever. And also introduces new technologies. New 911 Turbo and Turbo S are powered by a 3.8-lt petrol engine; Turbo receives 520 HP and Turbo S receives 560 HP. And both models are offered with a 7-speed PDK double clutch automatic gearbox. As usual, both Turbo models are all-wheel drive. Porsche offers an electro hydraulic system all-wheel drive system to improve response and traction.
Now 911 Turbos are available with full LED headlights, unlike other cars you won’t have the old technology xenon or halogen lights! This is really good decision and presents the Porsche’s commitment to high technology.
Another good feature is the rear wheel steering. Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S offer rear wheel steering to improve handling, cornering and better manoeuvre in slow speed. Up to 50 km/h, the rear wheel steers to opposite direction and speeds above 80 km/h, the rear wheel steers to parallel direction. But I have no idea what rear wheel does between 50 km/h and 80 km/h.
Now 911 Turbo and Turbo S offer active aero dynamic similar to an airplane. This is why you should buy a Turbo! It is called Porsche Active Aerodynamic (PAA), the front spoiler retractable to three different stages based on the speed of the car and the deployable rear spoiler can adjust itself into three different stages as well. Watch the footage and you will see how cool it is!
Porsche 911 Turbo Sport Chrono Package only needs 3.2 seconds to reach 100 km/h and Turbo S only needs 3.1 seconds to reach 100 km/h with the top speed of 318 km/h.
Go buy a Turbo S, the price is gap around €30,000. But if you can afford to buy a Turbo, you can easily afford to Turbo S!

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport vs. Porsche 911 Turbo S vs. Nissan GTR by Road & Track Test

Road & Track is an American car magazine and quite well known around the world. Recently, they made a great test of three amazing cars! Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, Nissan GTR and Porsche 911 Turbo S. All these cars are state of art engineering of automotive industry and present devastating performance.

Road & Track made a video to show the performance of these three cars. They calculated each of the cars’ acceleration performances. According to magazine, this measure is more appropriate than the maximum speed level. And I do agree with them, top speed is a bit utopic number for these cars. Especially, Veyron is capable of achieving more than 400kph, which is quite impossible to achieve on normal road condition.

The test shows that Bugatti is far beyond the other cars, but there is a mistake in this test. Road & Track did not measure these cars handling capabilities. People do not buy these cars to do drag races, they drive them in daily condition and handling is important as acceleration. If a car does not provide a proper handling, the acceleration becomes meaningless.

This test is exciting to watch but I cannot consider as a good performance measure. They should have done it like European magazines do it!

24 different Porsche 911 Models

For many years, I was trying to find an answer one of the most basic question of automotive industry. Why Porsche 911 has so many variations! At this moment there are 24 different Porsche 911s, this is the most stretched product line in automotive industry. You can buy any type of 911, which can satisfy your needs, pleasures, expectations, fantasies or anything else! Instead of altering your taste, Porsche alters the 911!
Last week, I had chance to meet with the PR Director of Porsche UK. I have been waiting to talk with someone, who works in Porsche and knows the top-secret answer to this question. Why Porsche has 24 different 911s? And she directly replied; there is always one Porsche, which can match with a different customer needs and each of these 24 models focuses on 24 different consumers characters. As I mentioned, Porsche wills to satisfy any customer, who loves Porsche and increase its profits. This is a very brief explanation but Porsche makes lots of money thanks to stretched product range :)
After all these, I still don’t see the point of offering a S model in 911 range. It fills the gap between raw 911 and Turbo but it also make raw 911 as the cheapest one. Whenever I saw a 911 without S I always think, he didn’t save enough money to buy S or he doesn’t care about the S. Most probably, the second option is more plausible.
Basically, there is no pure 911! There are many 911 and you decide which is the pure 911 for you, not for others.
