New Mercedes A45 AMG vs…

Mercedes A45 AMG photos were leaks to internet. A45 AMG is the cheapest AMG you can buy or the most affordable AMG on market. And A45 AMG does not look that bad either. But I am not a great fan of the new A-Class but Mercedes did a very good job with this car. I can say that, A45 AMG is the best looking car on Mercedes range.

(I am missing the days when days of first generation SLK and CLK!)

Thanks to 2-lt turbo petrol engine of A45 AMG, many people from the emerging markets will rush into A45 AMG. Because, it will have the lowest tax bracket for an AMG, thanks to 2-lt engine. This engine produces 360 HP with 450 Nm of torque. And seven-speed double clutch automatic gearbox is offered. A45 AMG needs 4,5 seconds to reach 100 km/h and top speed is limited to 250 km/h as usual. And it is four-wheel drive, 4MATIC!

A45 AMG is nearly one second faster than the Golf R and Audi S3. And only 0,2 seconds faster than the BMW M135i. Performance difference between the Mercedes A45 AMG and BMW M135i cannot be understood easily but M135i has a bigger engine and that’s a minus for weight balance, and taxation for global market.

But A45 AMG is still a Mercedes :( And don’t expect to see Audi quality interior.

Mercedes E63 AMG 4MATIC S-Model. Too Long

Mercedes E63 AMG, it is now facelifted! Don’t worry it doesn’t look that bad. Friendly advice, if you are going buy a Mercedes E-Class, please go for the AMG package to have a better exterior look.

New E63 AMG will be offered with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. Also, Mercedes offer a new product line for AMG, S-Model. Basically, it is more expensive and more powerful.

By the way, CLS 63 AMG is now offered with 4MATIC all-wheel drive and S-Model option :)

I really wonder what will happen when Mercedes introduces the new S-Class AMG with S-Model, S63 S-Model AMG 4MATIC. No comment!

Audi S8 US Commercial “Suspect”

Audi S8; if you are reading my blog for long time or know me personally you might have noticed that Audi is not my favourite brand. The only reason for this emotional disconnection is the Audi’s tendency to understeer even with four-wheel drive system Quattro, and most of the Audi’s are front-wheel drive.

In my opinion, if you are buying a premium car rear-wheel drive is a better option. Therefore, Audi is not in my favourite list. However; Audis are really well made, ride is very comfortable and offers sportive character and Audis look really good.

Recently, Audi developed a new technology called ActiveSport Differential. This technology enables to transfer power to each rear-wheel independently and reduce the tendency to understeer. Unfortunately, Active Sport Differential is optional but worth to buy.

I recently found this Audi S8 advertisement in Audi’s US YouTube channel. Scenario is really original and you feel the excitement of the S8! What is Audi S8? Audi S8 is the powerful and more sporty version of A8. Audi brands their performance models with S instead of A, BMW does with m and Mercedes does with AMG.

Audi S8 is powered by a 4-lt TFSI petrol engine with 520 PS of power and coupled with 8-speed automatic gearbox. Audi S8’s competitors; Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7-Series do not offer this level of performance from 4-lt engine. Therefore, Audi deserve respect for its engineering achievement. Honestly, I may buy an Audi S8 ;)

Chris Harris Mercedes G63 AMG Test

Chris Harris and Mercedes G63 AMG. Chris tested the new Mercedes G63 AMG and I watched the video yesterday, I know it is a bit late. As a person who loves the Mercedes G-Wagon so much and I do know that Mercedes G-Wagon does not have a responsive steering wheel, still manufactured by chassis frame, there is no sense of aero dynamics.

But G-Wagon looks amazing! I understand Chris, he compared the G63 AMG with its competitors but G-Wagon’s competitors were not even on planned production when G-Wagon was revealed. Also, G-Wagon has its own style of roughness, people do not buy G63 AMG to go around the Nürburgring faster or corner harder.

Again I agree with Chris, G63 AMG does not promising a good cornering ability, on the other hand 544 PS and 760 Nm of torque would definitely be fun to drive.

Mercedes G63 AMG is a combination of contradiction, therefore you can accelerate and off road like crazy!

Mercedes AMG 5.5-lt biturbo; you can find this engine rest of the Mercedes AMG models, E 63 AMG, CLS 63 AMG, GL 63 AMG, ML 63 AMG, C63 AMG, S 63 AMG, SL 63 AMG and CL 63 AMG. 5.5-lt biturbo AMG engine is designed to last forever, but how they do it.

AMG recently released a footage of 5.5-lt biturbo engine’s simulation. In this simulation, engine is pushed the limits more than you can imagine. Actually, no one will ever push the engine like this!

Schumacher and Rosberg Built a Mercedes AMG Engine

Schumacher and Rosberg decided to build a Mercedes AMG engine. Building a Mercedes AMG engine is a real tough job and I am sure it is not that easy as it seen on TV. Hopefully, Mercedes recoded the moment of the engine built by Schumacher and Rosberg.

Schumacher and Rosberg built a V8 twin-turbo 5.5-lt, 557 PS AMG engine for Mercedes CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake model.

Schumacher and Rosberg are great Formula 1 pilots, I hope their engine will be as robust as them. Also, they can open their workshop after retirement :)

Mercedes CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake Photos

Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake is now available with AMG, CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake. As a part of Mercedes tradition, CLS Shooting Brake is available with AMG engine. This is quite common and everyone knows it. Shooting Brake is a new vehicle for the market, coupe estate. Sounds a bit interesting and unusual but there is a possible demand for this car.

Because, many people love estate cars (I really don’t know why) and some of those people don’t like to own a boring estate car. This sounds reasonable as well. So, people in Mercedes decided to cheer up the people who drive boring estate cars with coupe estate.

Honestly, CLS Shooting Brake does not sound that bad but it is definitely not my type!

CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake features 5,5-lt biturbo petrol engine that produces 525 PS and 700 Nm of torque. However, Edition 1 will produce 557 PS and 800 Nm of torque. So, CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake Edition 1 is a better second hand option. As usual, engine is coupled with 7-speed AMG automatic gearbox. And limited to 250 kph (155 mph).

Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe Black, it is quite hard to memorise the order of the words but I did it. C63 AMG Coupe Black was in Goodwood Festival of Speed as well with its 517 PS V8 engine!

New Mercedes SLS AMG GT

Mercedes SLS AMG received an early update, in 2010 the production started and after less than two years’ time Mercedes decided to update the SLS AMG. It sounds a bit unexpected and a bit depressing for current owners.

Mercedes SLS AMG is not a cheap car to buy and in a very short time frame, a revised model is introduced. I think Mercedes is not satisfied with the SLS AMG, even they did not like that name now it is called Mercedes SLS AMG GT!

The updated Mercedes SLS AMG GT produces 591 PS of power and 650 Nm of torque. Mercedes SLS AMG GT receives 20 more horsepower than the previous model, and achieves to reach 100 kph (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 320 kph (200 mph). And you need to pay extra £18,000!!!

Drive train is also revised, the previous known AMG Ride Control Sports Suspension is replaced with AMG Ride Control Performance Suspension, and with this new system there will no more comfort button for suspension settings and your back will be destroyed!

Mercedes suggests to use Sport mode for daily driving with SLS AMG GT. Also adds, rolling and pitching of the new SLS AMG GT is reduced! Once again, the Sport setting will be very comfortable. Basically, Sport will be the new comfort. And in order to compensate the Sport, SLS AMG GT feature Sport plus setting.

As you would expect, the new Mercedes SLS AMG GT offers better interior quality and better of everything. Anyway if you own a Mercedes SLS AMG, after October 2012 it will be slow and old.

Does this revision changed my perception to Mercedes SLS AMG? Of course no. I still go for Mercedes McLaren SLR.

Honestly, this car revision trend in automotive industry will turn into Apple’s obsession to revise their whole product range every year. Whatever you buy, it will be old in one-year time. Think about iPhone, whenever you buy it, less than one-year time it will be old and slow. I hope we won’t have this trend in automotive.
