Audi RS6 Facts and Photos | Mayfair, London

Audi RS6 in Mayfair London. Some of you might consider the RS6 as an ugly yet fast estate car. However, the story of the RS6 is a bit different. When it was launched years ago, it was an estate car. Audi maintained this tradition and kept the RS6 in its estate form. By the way the colour is awful as well.

Over the years, we experienced a number of sedan RS6 models, but I never appreciated them. Even though the estate cars have an ugly and utilitarian design, the Audi RS6 makes up for this ugliness with massive engine power and performance figures that can make a Ferrari owner very jealous (RS6 is not an ugly car, just the estate concept looks ugly).

Some facts!

What are the performance figures of the Audi RS6? They are mental! The RS6 is powered by a 4-lt V8 TFSI engine with 560 HP and 700 nm of torque. Unfortunately, the engine is coupled with an old-school 8-speed automatic. There is no dual clutch automatic. The acceleration is 3.9 seconds to 100 km/h and, as usual, the top speed is 250 km/h! Also there is air suspension to keep comfortable in case you need it, and it gives you more grip on the corners with a sport differential.

Why the RS6?

Basically, the RS6 offers you a performance that can take your breathe while, at the same time, not attracting any unnecessary attention from others. The RS6 is an estate car and 99% of the population will never ever think that this boxy car is more powerful than an average Porsche 911! Literally, the RS6 is a stealth car.

Facts and Photos of Audi RS3 from Mayfair, London

The Audi RS3. It is finally here. More precisely it is at the Audi Mayfair branch! As we all expected, the RS model of the Audi A3 arrived a bit late to compete with the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG. But it was worth the wait, definitely a better car. You might be wondering, to what extent is the RS3 better than the A45 AMG?

I won’t be talking about how the RS3 drives better than the A45 AMG or vice-versa. Both of them are front-biased all-wheel drive cars and when you push them, both of these cars will have a tendency to under-steer. However, the difference with regard to the RS3 is in the interior build quality.

As many car manufacturers admit, Audi has the best interior production quality. Basically, Audi’s interior looks amazing, and you experience a premium feeling. And the story is the same with the RS3, in that it offers a great interior that will exceed your expectations.

In addition, the RS3 offers pre-crash systems and the other driving assistance systems that are available in other Audi models. Whilst enjoying the powerful 370 HP engine, Audi will do its best to keep you out of any trouble. Moreover, I cannot ignore the legendary all-wheel drive system Quattro. An Audi without Quattro is not a real Audi as far as I am concerned, and the RS3 offers a dynamic rear-differential to reduce the front-biased drive train.

Lastly, the RS3 looks amazing! And it is not extremely expensive to own. It is still more expensive than many other cars, but the RS3 offers 367 HP and 465 Nm from 2.5-lt 5-cylinder petrol engine, 7-speed DSG and Quattro! Also, RS3 offers LED headlight as well! Only needs 4.3 seconds to reach 100km/h and top speed is 250 km/h but you can upgrade it to 280 km/h!

Facts and Photos of Audi R18 e-tron Quattro Le Mans

Audi R18 e-tron Quattro LeMans racer. Probably you weren’t expecting me to spot this racer in the middle of London, more precisely at Mayfair. However, Audi decided to bring this Le Mans racer to Mayfair store to show! And it is Quattro! There are some facts about Audi R18 and some photos as well;

  • Won 10 races.
  • 3.7-lt V6 petrol engine produces more than 510HP and more than 850Nm of torque (They never reveal the real power output).
  • Rear-wheel drive but during the breaking-phase 500kJ of energy is transferred to front wheels defined by FIA (I didn’t get anything!).
  • Six-speed sequential gearbox (No S-Tronic).
  • Weights 900kg (Lighter than your average car).
  • Top speed is only 352km/h (Slower than an investment banker’s Ferrari).
  • 50lt of fuel tank.

Audi S3 Convertible Review?

Audi S3 convertible time! If you are lucky, the sun may just have started to shine in your area. That’s the case in England at the moment; the spring sun has emerged and some folks are preparing to buy convertible cars. I know this sounds uncharacteristically optimistic but the UK has the highest demand for convertibles, even though there is no sun for 95% of the year!

So, here is the cure for the common convertible – the Audi S3 convertible. I had the chance to take some photos of this car at a Mayfair dealership in London. It is now the second most powerful Audi A3 after the RS3. However, this does not change the fact that the Audi S3 is really really fast. And when you consider its size and Quattro all-wheel drive system, the S3 will be an epic ride.

Quattro

However, never forget that the Quattro always hinders the understeer effect due to its character. Based on what I’ve heard from people who have driven the S3; if you push hard, the S3 has a tendency to understeer. What’s the problem? Understeering is something that you really don’t need in a car when you push hard on the corner. What to expect? Oversteering, that’s better!

The Audi S3 is powered by a 2-lt TFSI petrol engine with 300 HP and 380 nm of torque. It only needs 5.4 seconds to reach 100 km/h with a top speed of 250 km/h. As expected, the S3 is coupled with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Just right for that sunny weekend in the country.

The New Audi Q7 (Second Generation)

I’ve finally managed to see the new (Second generation) Audi Q7 in Mayfair, London. Actually, it was the pre-production model and didn’t feature all the new gadgets. Despite being in pre-production, the new second generation looks way way better in real life than the Internet photos. The main reason for this? The press photos from Audi have been taken when the Q7’s air suspension is lowered to the bottom, thus making the Q7 look like a raised estate car. In real life, the Q7 looks like a real SUV.

What’s New!

Interestingly, it is 30mm shorter than the first generation but it does look really long. Despite its size, this model features a class-leading pre-crash and warning system. It is also capable of semi-autonomous driving up to 65 km/h. That’s a great feature, I love it! You don’t need to drive whilst the car is moving. The Q7 also features a night vision assistant. And if that isn’t enough, it can understand whether you’re sticking to your lane or not, blindspots as well!

In terms of gadget features, the second generation model features an NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor and you can even order it with two Android tablets at the rear. However, you do have to deal with the Android updates! Did I mention there is a 1,920-watt Bang Olufsen sounds system? I am not into sound systems.

The coolest features are the all-wheel steering and 1000-rpm driving mode. Rear wheels can steer up to 5-degrees depending on the situation. And the new vaporisation system enables the engine to run as low as 1000-rpm without any vibration. This reduces the fuel consumption.

The interior ergonomics are very good and it was really easy to control Audi’s MMI information system. The massive touch pad makes it so easy to access the menus and set the navigation or the radio.

Despite the unexpected external look of the second generation, the features and the quality of the interior space compensate for that non-charming exterior. For me though, it is more of a massive gadget than an SUV!

Price starts from £50,000. Technical details are;

Audi Q7 3.0 TDI (272 HP) 5-seater:
Combined fuel consumption in l/100 km: 6.1 – 5.7** (38.6 – 41.3 US mpg);
Combined CO2 emissions in g/km: 159 – 149** (255.9 – 239.8 g/mi)
Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI (333 HP) 5-seater:
Combined fuel consumption in l/100 km: 8.1 – 7.7** (29.0 – 30.5 US mpg);
Combined CO2 emissions in g/km: 189 – 179** (304.2 – 288.1 g/mi)

Camera: Canon 70d with 50mm f 1.8 lens.

Audi Quattro with No Road Tax and Congestion Charge

Audi Quattro with no road tax and no congestion charge. If you are not living in London, you have no idea what I am talking about. In London, if you car emits more than 75g/km CO2, you need to pay the congestion charge fee £11.50. And there are very few cars that are exempt for this lovely tax. And today, I found another car that is exempt from road tax, congestion charge or anything else.

The solution I found is relatively a smaller car than the average. It does offer Quattro, it does have state-of-art of ESP and traction control systems, the brakes are as strong as your feet. And also, it is very very light. In addition, it does offer all Audi character from top to bottom. Horsepower? Actually it depends on the food you just ate and your visits to gym!

The only issue with this car, it is for kids but available to buy at Audi’s Mayfair showroom.

Audi S1 from London Mayfair Digital Showroom

Today I continue with Audi family, S1, I was really curious to see this tiny car. And hopefully, I managed to spot one at Audi’s Digital Showroom at Mayfair, London. Audi S1 is a really tiny and charming car. It is powered by a 2-lt TFSI 230 HP and 370 nm of torque.

The exciting part is the Quattro all-wheel drive system! And unfortunately, it is coupled with a six-speed manual. It should have been a S-Tronic double clutch! However, the rear suspension is a proper multi-link suspension and provide better grip.

I really like the Audi S1 despite the pre-histroic manual transmission. I guess, if you are looking for a small, fast and invisible car the S1 will be the perfect choice. It really well built inside as well. And it does not show off like its competitors.

Actually, I really like the S1 and three-door version looks cool as well!

New Second Generation Audi Q7 | Android Tablet with Quattro

New second generation Audi Q7 is here! The big and charming SUV from the Audi has a new face, a new drive train and new technologies. Personally, I never liked the first generation Audi Q7. It was not offering anything different or exciting. First generation Q7 was an SUV that is cheaper than its rival and offers lots of space, that was all.

However, Audi decided to change this perception and with the second generation Audi Q7, they introduced the first Android based SUV tablet! Actually, second generation Audi Q7 offers a plug-in hybrid e-tron Quattro model. What does this mean? If you purchase the second generation Q7 plug-in hybrid e-tron Quattro model, you will be able to achieve 50 g/km CO2 level from a tank! It will be powered by a 3-lt turbo diesel with 258 HP and the electric motor produces 127 HP, the total of 373 HP with the total torque of 700 nm! This model accelerates to 100km/h in 6 seconds and the top speed is 225 km/h. The rest of engine range is quite boring I will mention them later.

The exciting parts of the second generation Q7 are the pre-crash system, autonomous driving and tablets! Up to 60 km/h second generation Q7 can drive by itself on the road. Basically, when there is a traffic jam, Q7 can drive by itself. X5 already offers this! Also, the new Q7 can detect the cross traffic when you are reversing. Active line assist intervenes the steering-wheel to keep you on your lane. And if you are planning to crash to a car, Q7 can stop by itself.

The exterior design of the Q7 is terrible! It looks like a Lexus LX from the front-end and the rest of Q7 looks like an A6 estate with steroids. Basically, Q7 is an ugly from the outside. However, the interior of the new Q7 is really improved. Material quality looks like the pinnacle for the SUV segment. Unlike the first generation, you won’t be able to spot anything with cheap feeling with the new Q7.

Now you can order the new Q7 with two Android tablets that are powered by NVIDIA Tegra 4 cpu. Tegra 4 is based on ARM Cortex A15 processor with four cores (1.9 GHz), also the same CPU is used with Microsoft Surface Pro 2. The Audi tablet offers a full HD camera, 32 GB internal memory and a NFC connectivity.

The new MMI of the Q7 offers around 185 pixel density per inch (PPI) level (1440 x 550, 8.8-inch). It is not close to Retina displays but still a great achievement for the automotive industry. Land Rover should learn some lessons! Now the MMI is powered by NVIDIA T30 processor to bring very detailed 3D images and the animations.

Google Android Auto, Apple CarPlay are available with the new Q7!

Audi assumes that the new Q7 will be able to understand your sentences by natural speech control. But they never work!

Lastly, the second generation Q7 is 325 kg lighter than the first generation. Basically, the new second generation Audi Q7 looks uglier, offers more luxurious interior, has better driving assistance systems, comes with Android tablets. And has a locking centre differential. Q7 shifted to boring in terms of design but increased the competition via its new toys!

Audi Q7 3.0 TDI (200 kW) 5-seater:
Combined fuel consumption in l/100 km: 6.1 – 5.7** (38.6 – 41.3 US mpg);
Combined CO2 emissions in g/km: 159 – 149** (255.9 – 239.8 g/mi)
Audi Q7 3.0 TDI (200 kW) 7-seater:
Combined fuel consumption in l/100 km: 6.2 – 5.9** (37.9 – 39.9 US mpg);
Combined CO2 emissions in g/km: 163 – 153** (262.3 – 246.2 g/mi)
Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI (245 kW) 5-seater:
Combined fuel consumption in l/100 km: 8.1 – 7.7** (29.0 – 30.5 US mpg);

Coolest Car? Audi A8 W12

Looking for the coolest car? So, you may end up with an Audi W12! Why? Since it was revealed to market, Audi A8 was an exclusive car thanks to its rareness. This rareness can be explained by its modest design that makes it possible to go around everywhere without being noticed by the people.
Literally, Audi A8 is a car for people who are looking forward to go under the radar. W12? W12 is the number of engines and their position. Audi A8 W12 is powered by a 6.2-lt 12-cylinder engine that can be found inside a Bentley Continental and VW Phaeton. W12 produced 500 HP with 625 nm of torque.
