£148 Million Lottery Winner from UK Bought A Ford Kuga!

Which car would you buy if you win £148 million ($238 million, €185 million) from lottery? Many of you will start the list with Bugatti, Bentley, or more down-to-earth with Maserati or Mercedes AMG or Audi. For many people winning lottery is the short-cut to buy a super luxury car, without thinking the consequence of ownership of a super luxury car.
During August, a family in UK won £148 million from lottery and I was expecting them to buy a Range Rover or BMW 7-Series or something similar to these. Because, they have lots of money to buy any car on the planet and most probably the interest income will be enough to cover the maintenance and other costs.
What did British lottery winner buy? They bought something very very down-to-earth, Ford Kuga! Ford Kuga only cost to them around £25,000. I don’t convert to other currencies, because it is nothing when you compare with £148 million!
On the other hand, Ford Kuga is not a bad despite the fact that it is end of its product lifecycle. And unfortunately Kuga does not offer any downsized engines, the engine range is 2-lt diesel with 140 PS or 163 PS and 2.5-lt 200 PS petrol engine. You may have double clutch automatic gearbox, and I highly recommend it. Despite limited engine range, Kuga is not that bad at all, you still have lots of electronic gadgets and safety systems. And it looks really good! If it was branded as Range Rover, many people would definitely buy it!
I hope lottery winner family with their Ford Kuga and it seems like they bought the full spec, Titanium X model. Honestly, they should have waited for the new model :(

Bugatti revealed another limited edition of Veyron; Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Special Edition! This limited edition is inspired by 1928 Bugatti Type 37A model. Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Special Edition only needs 2.6 seconds for 100 kph with 410 kph limited top speed, due to its open top design.
Price tag is €1.9 million! What I can say, another limited edition Veyron! I really wonder, will Bugatti ever run out of limited editions :)

McLaren P1: Inspired by UFOs

McLaren P1 is revealed today, this is the car that will be competing with Bugatti Veyron. Today, many journalists wrote many things about McLaren P1, for that reason I don’t want to repeat the same words.
In my opinion, P1 looks amazing! P1 is one of the best-looking cars on market today and P1 is going to be an icon. McLaren P1 does share some design bits from MP4-12C but that is not a surprise. However, this similar design bits do not ruin the harmony of the P1. Actually, McLaren P1 looks like a stealth plane and UFO. That’s the first that came to my mind, when I saw the McLaren P1.
Moreover, the rear-end of the McLaren P1 looks better than its front-end. Especially the extremely thin brake lights definitely look fabulous at night.
I guess Frank Stephenson wanted to increase the power of the P1 by using the exhaust as propulsion system. When you look at the exhaust of the McLaren P1, you expect to see flames coming out.
McLaren P1 is going to have 963 PS of power by using 3.8-lt V8 engine and Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), zero to 100 kph will be 2.8 seconds and top speed of 384 kph (239 mph).

According to gossips, new McLaren will have 3.8-lt V8 engine with KERS energy saving system that leads to produce 963 PS of power, 2.8 seconds to reach 100 kph with the top speed of 384 kph (239 mph).

Fisker Karma

Fisker Karma is the first electric car with on-board generator. Electric car story started long time ago, during the end of 1800s, electric cars were more popular than petrol powered ones. As the electric cars were easier to drive and creates no smoke, people tend to like them more. However, things did not go as planned. As the years passed, electric car passed out and we end up with petrol power!
Since last two decade, there is always an electric car rumour. However, they could never resolve the problem of charging. With the present technology, charging takes long time and batteries cannot mobilise you for long journeys. So, there are several options for electric cars; have a very long charging cable or carry an generator or don’t drive or place a generator inside the vehicle.
The best option is the last one, hopefully Fisker thought the same. And, Fisker Karma is built on this concept. Fisker Karma is an electric car with a generator inside the car. Basically, 2-lt turbo petrol engine (260 PS) is there to generate electricity. There are no physically connections between the petrol engine and wheels of Fisker Karma. 2-lt petrol engine in Fisker Karma only charges the batteries if necessary.
Unlike other ugly electric car, Fisker Karma has a state-of-art exterior and interior design. Two electric engines provide 1300 Nm of torque from the stand still. This means, Fisker Karma accelerate more aggressively than a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, because Karma has more torque! Fisker Karma also has a limited-slip differential, 47/53 weight balance similar to Lamborghini, very high quality interior, Brembo brakes, pedestrian warning system (Karma warns pedestrians while going around the city), pressurised petrol tank to avoid any evaporated petrol to escape, ABS, traction control, stability control. The range of Fisker Karma is 50 miles / 80 km with pure electricity and with generator, 300 miles / 483 km; the roof is a solar roof to charge batteries. And the top speed of Fisker Karma is 125 mph / 200 kph.
Fisker Karma is really worth to buy car, it is not like other cheap looking electric cars. Karma offers a proper GT experience with contemporary technology. I am sure in future we will see cars like Fisker Karma more.

Porsche 918 Spyder with Electric Power

Porsche 918 Spyder, this new Porsche will take the space after Carrera GT left the production. Porsche 918 Spyder is a totally new concept, unlike Carrera GT it does not run on only petrol power, Porsche 918 runs with electric power as well. There are two electric engines are placed in 918 Spyder, one in front axle (122 PS) and the other one in rear axle (108 PS) act as a hybrid and runs with petrol engine. Moreover, 4.6-lt V8 petrol engine is also present and produces 570 PS of power. The combination of electric and petrol engines deliver more than 770 PS of power to Porsche 918 with only 3lt/km of consumption level! In addition, batteries can be charged by plug-in but charging times are not announced yet. The top speed is more than 325 kph (200 mph).
918 Spyder will also feature adaptive rear-axle steering and fully adaptive aerodynamics. Rear-axle steering can be found in BMW cars today and improves the cornering and parking significantly. Adaptive aerodynamics will be similar to Bugatti Veyron’s adaptive rear spoiler; acting as an air brake and improve handling at high speed.
Porsche 918 Spyder will go into production end of September 2013 and first delivery will be before the end of 2013. Porsche will be using carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFPR) to manufacture 918 Spyder. This enables to reduce the weight significantly and improve consumption, better handling and also better safety in higher speeds. As a result of this new technologies, Porsche defines the 918 Spyder as minimum consumption and maximum of performance.
According to press release and technical information, Porsche 918 Spyder will create a path in super car segment. During 2000s; we saw Ferrari Enzo, Mercedes McLaren SLR, Porsche Carrera GT and Ford GT. Each of these cars developed and improved the meaning of super car, and in following years we will a new type of super car territory.

Bugatti Galibier 16C Concept

Bugatti Galibier 16C concept is the future Bugatti with four doors. It started as concept car and recently Bugatti released new footage on their YouTube channel. Footage shows the design details of this possible new model after Veyron. And it is clear that it will be powered by a 1000 PS engine and it will feature very nice engine bonnet!
Also, when you buy this €1.83 Million car, you will receive a free watch, which can be placed on instrument panel or you may place it on your wrist! This is great bargain!
The nice thing with Galibier is the mutual design bits from the iconic Bugatti Atlantic model, especially in the rear end. Galibier might be the first features a vertical brake light thanks to its main centre line, starts from the  rear end and finishes at the front.

Official Bugatti Video or Not !?!

Finally the Bugatti is on YouTube but, with only four videos and very low view rate. They would definitely increase their ratings, as people discover it. I am not going talk about the rating on YouTube, I want to talk about the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse’s YouTube video. It is totally disappointing.
I am not a video expert and I cannot judge it precisely but from a very basic approach to video, I can say that it does not look that exquisite or expensive. Actually, it looks like Bugatti was pushing the agency to finish the video and they did everything in hurry!

Why? Firstly, there is no engine noise! People want to hear W16 Quad Turbo engine! That’s the fantasy of Bugatti. This is like 1900s silent movie, no engine noise. Secondly, the whole video is not that sharp, the contrast of the Veyron’s colour is not clear. Actually, blur footage leads to lose concentration on the car.

During the transitions, the angles are changing from close to very wide and you feel the editing. Also, in the beginning the technical information looks really amateur. Everyone can do this with editing tools. This information should be placed during the video as a caption. So, viewer can associate the right meaning with right moment. Otherwise, for many people 1500 nm torque does not mean anything.

Of course, there are good parts! The intro is really good, the helicopter angles, high speed camera scenes are amazing. It is obvious that, Bugatti spent a lot of money for the video in a compressed time-frame.

On the contrary, some parts of the car is getting inside and outside of the frame too quickly. This shows that camera crew car could not keep up with the Bugatti. Moreover, the scene from the side of the car looks nice in photographs but does not match with this video. Another downside is some of parts are turn into slow by software. They don’t seems to be taken by high speed camera, especially the ones from the helicopter angle.
I don’t like to critise like this but, Bugatti could have made something much much better than this. This car costs nearly € 2 Millions, it is the most expensive production car in automotive history and Bugatti has adequate money to do better. Sorry :(
