BMW i8 Review by XCAR

BMW i8 is the future of automotive industry for the following decades. Combination of electric engine with a tiny internal combustion engine and you can charge it at home. This is not something really special. Toyota made it long time ago without the plug-in function but it never managed to be a cool car!
The main reason, if you are planning to introduce an innovative propulsion system, use innovative technology with rest of the car! BMW i8 made it! Carbon-fibre chassis, a design that turns a Ferrari into Honda Civic and state-of-art emission levels!
Unfortunately, I didn’t have the change to drive a BMW i8. Why? It is too complicated and long store. However, Alex Goy from the XCAR YouTube channel managed to drive a BMW i8! And why I share it here? Because, I trust his reviews on car, even though we don’t share my opinions about cars :)
Sorry for the photos, I was too lazy to find BMW i8’s photos. These are from the Louis Vuitton’s limited collection for the i8. Louis Vuitton is not included to price!

Louis Vuitton BMW i8 Collection

Louis Vuitton BMW i8 collection is recently revealed in London. In case you wonder, BMW i8 is the plug-in hybrid sports car of the BMW made from carbon-fibre. i8 does not based on any existing BMW platform, it is designed on a blank sheet of paper. Basically, BMW i8 is a ground breaking new sports car and like all other sports car, i8 has a limited luggage space.
What is wrong with the limited luggage space in a sports car? Basically, you cannot fit any luggage properly, because it is tiny. In order to over come this problem, you can either stop using the luggage space or buy bespoke luggages. And Louis Vuitton helps you to solve this problem with BMW i8.
The carbon fibre and leather crafted exquisite hand bags and luggage of Louis Vuitton will help you to use the luggage space very efficient way. Also Louis Vuitton’s collection is matching with the DNA of the BMW i8 perfectly. That’s what I really like with this collection. Matching with the DNA of the BMW i8 and manufactured by Louis Vuitton.
BMW i8 is powered by a 1.5-lt three-cylinder petrol engine with 231 HP and 320 Nm of torque and drive the rear wheels. The electric motor is powering the front wheels with 96 HP and 250 Nm of torque. The top speed with both power plants is 250 km/h, only electric drive top speed is 180 km/h. Acceleration to 100 km/h is only 4.4 seconds. The CO2 emission level is only 49 g/km!

Louis Vuitton Tailor Made Bags for BMW i8

Louis Vuitton tailor made bags for BMW i8, probably the coolest coolest collection a vehicle! And what is i8?
BMW i8 is a plug-in hybrid sports car made from carbon fibre. i8 is the second car from the BMW’s new product line called i Series for electric powered low emission vehicle range. When you hear electric, you may think about uncool cars but BMW i8 has a very attractive design and features all BMW technology and gadgets. i8’s total power is 362 HP with petrol and electric motors. Electric range is 37 km and with the help of the petrol engine, i8 can reach to 250 km/h. Keep in mind i8 is powered by both electric motor and petrol engine, they are both connected to wheels. And only 4.4 seconds is enough to reach 100 km/h.
Anyway, let’s forget the technical things. When you buy an electric car, you will notice something! There is no proper boot space and the boot space looks a bit weird. In order to find a solution to this, you may try to buy and return many different bags and spend lots of time. But there is a very cleaver solution for this from Louis Vuitton, a tailor made collection for BMW i8.
The BMW i8 Louis Vuitton bags are in carbon black to represent the i8’s carbon fibre body and chequered with Damier pattern. These bags not only designed for i8’s boot space, but also they are very stylish and unique. Many people own Louis Vuitton bags but very few of them will be i8 collection.

BMW i8 from Frankfurt Motor Show

BMW i8 is revealed to public during the Frankfurt Motor Show. BMW i-Series is a new chapter for the BMW family. Instead of revising their existing vehicle range for electric drive, BMW took a more risky path and created a new range of vehicle from a blank sheet of paper. A big gamble for a company but resulted with very innovative products and a new approach to automotive industry.
BMW i8 is a 2+2-seater coupe. 2+2 means, two people at front and two people at the rear and there is no space for the third, unless willing to travel inside the boot. i8 is powered by a 1.5-lt TwinPower Turbo petrol engine with 231 HP for the rear-wheels and for the front, 131 HP electric motors are employed. Thus, BMW i8 is a four-wheel drive plug-in hybrid vehicle with an electric based range of 35 km and the top speed of 120 km/h.
Would I buy one? Definitely yes!

BMW i8: Hybrid

Here is the BMW i8. The future of BMW cars, i8 is a plug-in hybrid car. i8 has two engines onboard, one eletric (131 PS) and one petrol (3-cylinder 223 PS); this power combination creates a total of 354 PS power and 550 nm of torque. And all the power from the two different engines are transferred to rear wheel or all-wheel depending on the situation! As you would expect, the top speed is limited to 250 kph (155 mph) and accelerates to 100 kph (62 mph) in under five seconds. The electric engine can travel up to 30 km (19 miles) on electric power alone and making no noise at all! If power is required, the petrol engine will be charging the batteries.
Despite being a hybrid, BMW managed to equalise the front and rear weights of the car and created 50:50 hybrid car. Moreover, the i8 is manufactured by lightweight materials to reduce the weight and increase acceleration (carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic).
I totally forgot to mention, it is a plug-in car. You can charge with a plug like you charge your mobile phone. In some cities, there are free chargers available but don’t try to charge it in your university or at work. You might need to explain your cleaver way of reducing CO2 to other people!
The rest of the car is similar to BMW, you have the drive switches from ECO PRO to SPORT. It is a two-seater, does not offer a dull hybrid design. Actually, i8 is one of the best-looking hybrid cars on market. I mean in future! Most of the hybrid cars do not have a very appealing looking! And I can assume that, BMW does not wish to offer a dull looking hybrid and destroy its image.
Toyota, i models will be the most solid competitors in future keep in mind!
