Kia | Istanbul not Constantinople #KiaYourCity from Twitter, Facebook and Google+ (Updated)

Few hours ago, Kia’s Worldwide Google+ (http://bit.ly/1qemZ7e) and Facebook (http://on.fb.me/1qJkw2f) accounts released a photo  under the #KiaYourCity campaign on social media. Nothing really special or unusual with this, however Kia shared a Kia C’eed photo that was taken in Istanbul, Turkey. Nothing unusual with this as well. I have just noticed that Kia shared the same content their Twitter (@Kia_Motors) account as well! (http://bit.ly/YWk22a) The surprising point was the label;

“#ceed‪ in #Istanbul (not Constantinople) #Turkey #KiaYourCity #Kia”.

Istanbul is used to be called as Constantinople. However, it is changed from Constantinople to Istanbul officially after the Turkish Republic was established. Despite this fact, Constantinople is still preferred by some people. For me that’s fine, I never argue about these things. Despite my calm approach to this, many people try to correct when someones says Constantinople to Istanbul. And it is quite interesting to spot this debate on Kia’s Google+ and Facebook pages.
The background of this lies on the history of Ottoman Empire and Byzantium. It is a subject that should not be discussed on a blog like this. However, I am really surprised to see this label on Kia’s website. And I don’t know whether it is generated by a user and shared by Kia or Kia generated it.

Mercedes CLA from Istanbul for #PinItForwardUK

Mercedes CLA, the tiny CLS! I know this does not sound fair but CLA is the smaller size version of the legendary CLS. Despite this resemblance, CLA did manage to create its own group of fans!

CLA is based on the new Mercedes A-Class, they share the same platform. Therefore, CLA is a front-wheel drive car. Unlike the CLS, you will experience relatively more under steer than you expected in a Mercedes. My personal opinion with front-wheel drive is not associated with sympathetic thoughts. But we cannot forget the manufacturing cost of rear-wheel drive and its hunger for fuel for smaller size engines. When you add these items into equation  front-wheel drive is a plausible solution, which I really don’t appreciate that much.

Never mind, you won’t be disappointed with the CLA. It does look way different than the A-Class, there is no true competitor of CLA and you will be quite unique. And CLA is relatively lowered priced than the CLS!

Here some photos from Mercedes-Benz Turkey, during the Istanbul Fashion Show! This post is for #PinItForwardUK

Oriental Mini Roadster

Mini recently revealed a new model, Mini Roadster. From the front, it looks like a normal Mini but this new car offers fewer seats, active rear spoiler and offers sportier handling. Anyway, I usual don’t write about new car, however Roadster’s YouTube video was shot in Istanbul. Therefore, I did not wish to skip this oriental video clip.
I think they were inspired by the Oriental Express :) From London to Istanbul.

BMW Taksim, Istanbul Event

Last weekend Istanbul, I had chance to watch a great show made by BMW. Animation of BMW’s innovation technologies through a big projection. The creative part of the work was the composition of the animation, and the projection!
First of all, the animation was a class leading work! The creative work involved with the animation was amazing. Each sequence of the animation narrates a unique characteristic of BMW’s innovation technology. It was very brief but gives a very clear message.  This was what you would expect to see from this event, but the exciting part was the projection!
The animation was projected to a building and exactly matched with the architectural characteristics. By this way, the animation seems to be happening inside the building! You didn’t realise that, it was a building. The building and animation was integrated with each other. Integration the animation with the building created an illusion of perception. Borusan team told me that, this projection is a result of serious work. It is not randomly integrated with the building. The alteration in perception designed very precisely, and it worked excellent!
This great work achieved by Borusan Automotive and you might watch some part from the YouTube video placed below!

Unidentified BMW F1 Car in Istanbul!

A few days ago, I saw this BMW F1 car in Istanbul. The place where I took the picture was a totally abandoned place with two BMW 1 Series with lots of dust, one E38 7 Series and a new X5. I don’t think the vehicle is a real F1 car but the wing seems to be real.

Mercedes iPad Magazine: C Coupe in Istanbul

Mercedes recently revealed a new car called C Class Coupe, which replaces the Sportcoupe. And honestly, I really liked it! During the PR campaign, Mercedes took a small footage for C Coupe in Istanbul, Turkey around couple of months ago. And it appeared on Mercedes Benz TV, also on their social networks.
A few minutes ago, I was reading the Mercedes’s iPad magazine and C Coupe was there! Mercedes placed the footage from Istanbul but with a mistake! They wrote something under the video that is not correct at all. “With the C Class Coupe through Turkish capital”. Unfortunately, Istanbul is not the capital of Turkey, Ankara is the capital city! Probably, the agency missed this information.
Still very nice magazine to read and helps to strength your existing emotional bond with das Mercedes.

Burberry is like a F1 Safety Car !

Burberry is one of the very well known British fashion brand and admired by many people. Burberry became a reflection of social status, reflection of life style. Some people cannot live without Burberry, it became a part of their body. However there are some people annoyed by seeing too much Burberry in every where. They say, Burberry lost its exclusivity by appearing too much. This is one of the Achilles’ heels in luxury; limit the production and keep it exclusive or satisfy the demand and lost the spirit. Burberry is like a light which signals in every condition and in everywhere; actually this is my idea, you may not agree with me.
Mercedes SL 63 AMG Formula1 Safety car is one of the coolest car for car enthusiast, it has everything we are looking for. It’s very powerful, upgraded suspension and brakes, it is bridling the F1 cars on circuit and it has amazing flashing lights all over the car. Of course, you cannot drive this car in daily condition with all these lights flashing. Even if you don’t open those flashing lights, you will catch all the attention, if you open those flashing lights, you will grab any kind of attention. So, it looks better on circuit.
Burberry is like safety car; it look very elegant and exquisite in fashion shows and on Mayfair, London. But when you see the store, all that spirit is disappearing! Burberry store in Istanbul, there are more than six Burberry is written all over the store, even on the side of stairs outside of the store. It is flashing like a safety car, I am here! May be for that reason, I could not like this brand ever. However; Paul Smith, Armani, Boss, Farhi, Kenzo or Bottega Veneta is not that flashing and catching my attention more. Of course, all these marketing strategies are targeting different target groups and have different goals. But will I ever drive SL63 AMG F1 Safety Car on street? I don’t think so!
Burberry’s store in Istanbul is one the magnificent looking building!
