Driving a Hyper Car Everyday: McLaren P1 Go Hiramatsu

Is possible to use a hyper car every day from home to work? Yes, it is. The solution, you buy a McLaren P1. Drive it everyday. Drive home. Drive to work! Despite my all efforts to influence you, I don’t think you consider this as a real possibility. Commuting with a hyper car everyday is like running the 1500 metres at the Olympics in a pair of high heels. Despite this awkward example, Go Hiramatsu from Japan commutes daily in his McLaren P1.

What ever you do with your daily commute, Go Hiramatsu does the same with a McLaren P1! Honestly, that’s the point of owing a hyper car. If you can’t use it for your commute, why did you buy it! The good thing about the P1 is that it can be driven by electric power. So, you will not be wrestling with the exhaust noise all the time.

The other advantage is the ergonomics of the interior. P1 is really designed to be driven everyday. Even though the seating position is quite low for a lower centre of gravity, the comfort level and the ergonomics are perfect. Thanks to its suspension system, P1 is not harsh on you when it comes to the daily commute. However, there is no Apple Car Play function, no extensive driving assistance systems and the boot space is very limited. If you can cope with these, you can commute in a hyper car!

McLaren 570S Won Red Dot Design Award

McLaren 570S won the Red Dot Design award. McLaren’s design director, Frank Stephenson, created the McLaren Automotive’s design philosophy, by beginning with the MP4-12C, the hyper car P1. During this rapid evolution, I was expecting to see them earn the Red Dot Design award.

Personally, I always loved the cars which received the Red Dot Design award. It gives another appeal to the product among its competitors. Especially in the car industry, the super car business is focused on horse power and some extravagant designs. Or still with golden ratio to the save the business.

However, receiving the Red Dot Design award gives another unique personality to the car beyond its functionality. In addition, Frank’s unique design approach and focus on form equals function approach helps us to understand the logic behind this award.

McLaren 570S

McLaren revealed its latest model, the 570S, a few days ago in New York. In terms of automotive, it is an entry level model, designed to compete with the Porsche 911. The 570S is the best looking McLaren at the moment and my new favourite McLaren!

So why do I love it?

The main reason is the 570S looks fantastic! Thanks to the evolution of McLaren’s design philosophy, they have created a car that looks beautiful from every angle. The 570S’s exterior is designed to optimise its cooling and down force. Other McLaren cars may look amazing but the 570S’s rear-end design is breath-taking. In addition, the interior looks phenomenal! In my view, the 570S offers the most premium interior in McLaren Automotive’s entire range. Even though, I am a person who is keen on semi-autonomous driving and considers seat ventilation the most important feature, I would definitely buy a 570S! I don’t know how Frank Stephenson designed the rear-end but it looks amazing.

Engine

The 570S features a V8 3.8-lt twin-turbo petrol engine that generates 570 HP and 600 nm of torque. You might be thinking that this is the same engine already present in the other models. However, McLaren Automotive individually designed 30% of this engine from scratch. The engine is also coupled with a 7-speed double clutch automatic gearbox.

Moreover, the 570S is designed to be driven everyday like the Bugatti Veyron (which really was designed to be driven everyday, I am not joking). The seats and the independent adaptive damping system provide maximum comfort for longer journeys. Also, the design of this car provides extended space for luggage as well.

Personally, I really love the McLaren 570S. It is a great alternative to the Porsche 911 and it would be a real challenge to see which one is better. Unfortunately, I haven’t driven either of them, but I do know one thing, McLaren is offering a unique driving experience that has not been available in this segment before!

Jimmy Choo SS 2015 Catwalk Collection with McLaren 650S

Few days ago, I received an email from Jimmy Choo! Actually, I received the newsletter that was sent to 37834789234789 people. I am not that special. Anyway, I thought it was about shoes and handbags. And I was right about that, there was a lady with a pair of high heels and that lady was Ondria Hardin (Actually, I didn’t know her, I’ deeply stuck with Kate Upton and Charlotte McKinney nowadays). I haven’t finished yet, and there was a car!

Similar to previous campaign of Jimmy Choo, Jimmy Choo’s head of PR decided to use cars for the Spring Summer 2015 campaign. And this time, they shifted from Mercedes to McLaren. Ondria Hardin and Kit Harrington featured with the McLaren 650S for the campaign.

Unlike the previous season, you cannot spot the logo of the car, that’s quite interesting. And as soon as I noticed the McLaren at the campaign, I told this to design director of McLaren, Frank Stephenson with a massive excitement and the result was, he already knew and the subject of the conversation was changed.

Anyway, if you are planning to buy a McLaren 650S or 675LT, the best driving shoes will be from Jimmy Choo. And this is what I have interpreted with this mega expensive advertisement campaign of Jimmy Choo Spring Summer 2015 with Ondria Hardin and Kit Harrington. Well done to me :)

By the way, Jimmy Choo Spring Summer 2015 offers really low high-heels for ladies but men collection is really good. Also, I didn’t miss the right-hand drive McLaren to emphasise the British DNA of the Jimmy Choo brand.

McLaren P1 | London | Canon 24mm f 2.8 Lens

Last week, I visited McLaren’s London dealer at Knightsbridge, London. I was very lucky to spot the McLaren P1! Actually, it was recently sold to a customer and was waiting for delivery or customer pick-up. Also, it was a great opportunity to try the Canon 24 mm f 2.8 wide angle fixed lens. I am also using a 50 mm f 1.8 lens, but I was experiencing problems with the 50 mm due to its narrow angle. I hope the 24 mm does a better job!

What are the McLaren P1’s technical details? It is really fast! How does it it feel to drive? I really don’t know, you may ask Frank Stephenson, he designed the P1. However, I am sure the P1 would offer you a very unique driving experience; it has lots of settings for different road and driving conditions. In addition, when you sit inside the P1, it feels like you are inside a jet fighter, and the glass roof makes the interior seem more spacious.

The P1 is a great car to look at, and I am sure it is a great car to drive. However, it is not available anymore; they are all sold. In addition, it looks like a spaceship!

McLaren MP4-12C with Plastic Ducks in Birmingham

McLaren MP4-12C with plastic ducks. I am not joking, someone really did it. The owner of this orange MP4-12C in Birmingham, UK has a great sense of humour and decided to place ducks from one side to other side of the McLaren’s dashboard.

Honestly I have no idea why the owner placed the ducks but there is something really obvious, it became viral. People were taking the photo of the car and the ducks like crazy.

This is the answer for the “how to become viral” question :)
