Porsche Boxster is 25 Years Old

In 1996, Porsche made a radical decision to introduce Boxster, an affordable two-seater car with a relatively small engine. During this time, bigger was considered better, and no one ever anticipated that the Boxster would become a game-changer. Also, during the same time, Mercedes-Benz introduced the SLK, a hardtop, whereas the Boxster was a soft top.

The compact structure and rear-mid engine placement made the Boxster a proper car for driving enthusiasts. The interior quality was also high for its time. As time went by, Porsche continued to develop the Boxster and added the Cayman to the range. However, Boxster became an iconic car of the 911.

After all these years, and a significant profit generated, Porsche is celebrating the 25th birthday of the Boxster with a special edition. The Boxster 25th Edition is based on a GT4, 4-lt engine (this six-cylinder mid-engine has 400 PS). It has the same colour scheme that Boxster’s concept model had in 1993. It will be (1200 cars only)limited in quantity available and definitely a future classic.

The New Porsche 718 Boxster in Mayfair, London

The brand new Porsche 718 Boxster is here. I was at the London Mayfair showroom and saw it in real life. The new Boxster doesn’t look that different from the previous version. However, the new four cylinder engines are changing the game and, of course, they are turbo charged. The 2-lt engine will be the hero for most the markets with a higher tariff for the larger engines. Porsche will make lots of money with the 2-lt family.

One of the best features of the Boxster is the boot space. Unlike the Porsche 911, the Boxster offers two boots spaces thanks to the lack of rear seats.

If you are looking for a rear mid-engined car with a reasonable boot space and an economical powerful engine, the Boxster is the best. Anyway, even if you don’t care about such things, it is still amazing!

New Porsche 718 Boxster and Boxster S

A few minutes ago, Porsche revealed the new 718 Boxster and Boxster S models. As I discussed previously on my blog, Porsche decided to revise the branding strategy of the Boxster and started using 718 Boxster instead. Also, the Boxster engine has been downsized to a 4-cylinder.

Now the 718 Boxster is offered with a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine (300 HP, 380 nm), and the 718 Boxster S is offered with a 2.5-litre engine, which has 350 HP (420 nm)!

The optional PDK double-clutch automatic transmission and the Sport Chrono Package are available. The 718 Boxster accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds with the top speed of 275 km/h. The 718 Boxster S only needs 4.2 seconds to reach up to 285 km/h!
