Exo Investment #StartUP FinTech

I have been using WeWork Spitalfields, London for more than eighteen months. During this time, I have met with many startups and global enterprises. The good thing about the WeWork offices is that there are no boundaries between small and large firms. It is a great environment to get to know each other, especially with regard to discovering new startups.

A few months ago I discovered a startup through a Google search and it turns out that they are based in WeWork. I should have looked around better. They are called Exo Investment.

Exo Investment is an innovative fintech startup. They aim to revolutionise investment banking through an AI platform. Basically, you no longer have to have a middle man, aka the Wolf of Wall Street. Instead, the AI analyses the markets for you and, based on your attitude towards risk (from very low to I love risk), AI invests your money in the right direction. In addition, Exo Investment is FCA regulated. They are committed to their work and tick all the necessary boxes.

The cool thing with this startup it that they are the golden standard. I have been chatting with the founder and the team since I came upon them. Literally, nothing is going wrong. If you take their case as a startup, they are the benchmark for literally everything. They even provided Apple MacBook Air to their interns, even though MacBook Air hasn’t been updated since 2015. Anyway, I am really impressed with their commitment to their work. Also, it is a great success story. For me they are the benchmark or the scale to measure the success of your startup against. Running a FCA-regulated investment firm is not an easy task because there are lots of regulations and paperwork, and the market is very competitive. They are competing with Wolf of Wall Street, Wolf of Berkeley Square and the big banks.

I really appreciate their work and their commitment. I am definitely sure, when you read this article a couple of years from now, that they will be known by many people.

If you are reading this article on April, 2021, yes I discovered this startup before you :)

Yada Events App #startup

I know I should have updated my Start Up section. However, I am back to startups. This time, it is an event app called Yada. I met with the creator at WeWork a couple of months ago. Yada is a very unique event app that is designed for creating and managing events very effectively and quickly. Unlike other platforms designed to discover events, the Yada app is focused on the management side. For the people who attend the event, the discovery function will show them future relevant events based on events they have attended before.

You might be thinking that Eventbrite and Facebook Events are already here, why do we need another app? The answer simple, they are too complicated to create and manage the event.

Here are some questions to the Yada’s founder Mehram;

  1. Can you describe your app in three sentence to us?
    We like to call our app the complete events app because unlike any other events app that is out there, we offer our users everything from the creation of an event page, through to the connection with attendees and the collaboration of photos, videos and comments in a singular platform. Our USP is our LiveView, a real-time slideshow of attendee’s content that can be projected onto screens around the venue or viewed of devices remotely.
  2. What was your motivation whilst developing this app?
    Our motivation was and still is to create something unique, innovative and standout from other apps in this sector. We have no direct competitor and that is something that I am proud to say. We are redeveloping our app next year and we are adding lots more features and functionality. Things are very exciting for us at the moment!
  3. Can we know more about you and your team?
    Our team is a great combination of wise old owls and young, creative graduates. We have a parent company called Expede IT Solutions Ltd. that is built up of IT and business professionals that have worked together for a long time and definitely know what they are talking about. Team yada, which I manage, is creative, fun and youthful. We currently have 3 people in our team but are expanding and growing quickly.
  4. What was the biggest challenge of your start up?
    The biggest challenge of our start-up is trying to be patient. It was so easy at the beginning and sometimes still is to get carried away and focus on the things that aren’t important. Unless you have a solid plan and roadmap of where you want to go, it is easy to get lost in the hundreds of tasks that need to be done every week. Every day I make a list and label each item from high importance to low importance. This helps me focus and make sure that things get done.

Formulr App #StartUp

Formulr, is a new mobile app that started up in London. Unlike other start ups, Formulr recalled my childhood memories of Formula 1, Le Mans and the World Rally Championship. This app was like a time machine to me, because I remembered the era of Ayrton Senna, Carlo Sainz and the Formula 1 cars. Not many apps have this kind of impact on me.

Until now, you had to follow many website, blogs and team websites to know what is going in motor sports. In addition, rules change often, new teams are emerging, new drivers are coming into the frame. Literally, it has become a full-time job to keep up with motorsports. Otherwise, you give it up.

Hopefully, I won’t need to Google everything for motorsport from now on. Formulr is the Instagram of motorsports and brings you the best content from all over! If you are planning to go back to the old days, or want to begin to keep up with motor sports, this is the app you should have.

With Formulr, I am starting a new series, #StartUp stories. You will find the story behind all the start up companies in London.

1) Can you describe your app in three sentence to us?

Formulr organises the worlds information for motorsport. Every championship, team, driver, rider, circuit and manufacturer all in one place. With each profile featuring posts, videos, articles and event highlights, all the information you need is now right at your fingertips.

2) What was your motivation whilst developing this app?

Motorsport has some of the best content in the world and people just didn’t have a central location to discover it. It was fragmented all around the web.

3) Can we know more about you and your team?

I’m a former racing car driver (Formula Three) with a background in business, technology and design.

4) What was the biggest challenge of your start up?

Trying to work out what tasks are the most important. With only a small team the business requires a lot of items to be actioned. If you are not organised its easy to loose track doing things that don’t make a difference.

You can download the Formulr app from;
