Marisa Miller features in Buick Commercial

Supermodel Marisa Miller features in Buick commercial. Marisa Miller is well-known from the annually hold Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She also features in Sports Illustrated and many other fashion magazines.
Buick; everyone knows this brand for ages. But never initiates any emotions with anyone. As a matter of fact, it is only available in some markets, mostly American. So, it is really impossible to spot a Buick around Europe. This brand is neither beautiful nor ugly. It is in the middle, a good vehicle to go from A to B.
Marisa features in Buick’s facelifted luxury crossover (This means it is not an SUV or an estate, it is in the middle) Enclave. Unfortunately, Enclave does not provide any competitive features. 3.6-lt V6 petrol engine only produces 292 PS and 366 nm of torque. In the meantime, Volkswagen Golf R produces 265 PS and 345 nm of torque from a turbo charged 2-lt petrol engine. The engine of Enclave is not impressive. Also, its 6-speed auto gearbox as well.
Unfortunately, LED day light lamps also do not provide extra points. Okay, it looks nice for a Buick and really big that’s all. I really don’t like to say this but Marisa Miller creates the word-of-mouth in this commercial, sorry!

The commercial can be watched after 14th May, Monday.

A new taste from Buick

As you might notice I don’t write about US industry that much, as I don’t have time left writing about Mercedes-Benz. But now there is something very interesting, sudden and special. Buick (GM’ brand) has never been my favourite or close to favourite brand with interesting cars named similar to Croissant. But this time Buick revealed something very special, of course they are not going to offer a car called Tiramisu, they are going to produce 1,4lt turbo charged four cylinder engines with 140 horse powers (200 nm of torque). That’s excellent news for US auto industry but the engine will be available in 2012! At that time, VW might be producing engines 0,4lt with 200 horse powers.
At least GM is trying their best to engage with global world! I really appreciated their decision but they should have done it much earlier! Unfortunately there is no point to have a huge V8 engine only capable of producing 300 horse powers.
I hope one day they will be producing small diesel engines in US market! By the way Croissant inspired car is called LaCrosse. Actually, LaCrosse looks excellent for Buick. It is out of league of Buick! Believe me if you stick an Audi logo in front this car, it would sell much more :)

Porsche: 1 – Toyota: 0

Many people will say Toyota is the most reliable car earth. My uncle’s sister’s daughter’s nephew’s son has a Toyota and it never break down. Yes, that’s true! Your unknown relative’s Toyota may not break down for long year but it does not anything to break down. I have never heard a very innovative technology from Toyota. They are just saying reliability and dull looking. Okay, Lexus introduced some new technologies but they don’t like to take these kinds of risks. However, a very primitive part of the car caused Toyota to collapse. Gas pedal!
J.D. Power announces reliability index every year for automotive brands. Research is conducted in USA but it provides a good perspective understand which is better and which is worse. And interesting there is an unexpected brand in first place; Porsche :) Yes, the sports car manufacturer who is expert in producing 911. Now it is the most reliable manufacturer on the list. Interestingly Porsche’s have many new technology even in facelifts. For instance; face lifted 911 Turbo is offering a new technology which reduces engine movement during cornering. Hydralic system is working like a suspension for engine and it prevent engine to cause under steer or over steer, as it is the heaviest part of the car. Also PDK, double clutch auto transmission, many electronic systems.
Sorry Toyota, you are the best anymore! Even if you did not have the problem with gas pedal, still you don’t take risks like Porsche to offer new technologies. By the way, Mercury and Buick are also more reliable than Toyota.
