End of Audi TT (1998 – 2023)

The Audi TT has been discontinued as Audi decided to halt its production after 25 years. To be honest, I’m not surprised; these days, people seem to prefer any type of SUV, making sports cars like the TT too niche. The shift in demand from sports cars to SUVs has ultimately led to the end of the Audi TT era. Once a design icon in 1998, desired by millions, it now appears that no one wants one.

Personally, I was only a fan of the first-generation Audi TT without the spoiler, losing interest after that. While the Audi TT became an alternative to the Porsche Cayman or Boxster, it’s not a Porsche, so I find myself tempted by a Porsche over a TT.

Returning to the first generation of the Audi TT, with and without the spoiler, in short, there was a tendency for loss of control over 180 km/h due to aerodynamic issues. This led to accidents where cars would fly and harshly land. However, this landing was not like your landing in Ibiza; it was harsh. Audi addressed this by installing a bizarre spoiler, making ESP standard, and improving suspensions.

The second and third generations (the current one) were impressive cars, featuring the Quattro all-wheel-drive system with an understeer tendency. The second generation even had a diesel engine, reflecting the peak of the diesel fetish in the automotive industry during the early 2010s. Companies were eager to put diesel engines in anything with four wheels. They probably considered diesel-powered baby strollers. This trend led to the creation of the Audi TT diesel, but I strongly advise against purchasing a used diesel TT.

Over the years, the Audi TT evolved, leaving competitors like the Mercedes-Benz SLK (now SLC) and making the BMW Z4 seemingly invisible. Porsche enthusiasts, however, remained loyal to the brand and didn’t opt for an Audi. Sadly, we won’t be seeing any new TTs on the streets in the near future. Instead, the roads will be filled with more and more SUVs. Perhaps we’ll even witness the birth of an Audi Q TT? Sounds like the beginning of a quirky automotive love story!

The New Audi TT RS Roadster

The new Audi TT RS Roadster is here! The Audi TT always reminds me of the early 2000s. The TT was a ground-breaking car when it was first revealed. The seamless design from front to the back was a great design piece. However, it ended up with a serious roll-over problem during high speeds. Therefore, you will spot a spoiler at the rear of the each first-gen Audi TT.

After the first generation Audi TT, things have changed. The world has changed, and I lost my passion for the TT. Despite my vanishing passion for the TT, it has become more and more popular.

A few weeks ago, I managed to spot the latest Audi TT RS Roadster at the Mayfair, London dealer. You might say, ‘that’s great’ and that I am rubbish on judging cars. However, I know the real Audi TT; therefore, I can’t like the other generations.

Some technical details; 2.5-lt five-cylinder petrol engine produces 400 HP and only needs 3.7 sec to reach 100 km/h! Nearly as fast as an Audi R8! Top speed is limited to the 250 km/h but who cares with an acceleration figure like this!

The Audi TT RS Roadster is basically a Porsche under a different badge! It’s definitely a great car.

New Audi TTS Coupe

The new Audi TTS Coupe. I saw it in Mayfair, London. Did I get excited? No. Did I wish to own one? No. Why did I take the photos? It is the new Audi TTS!

The Audi TT is a love/hate car. You either love it or hate it. With every new generation, Audi TT has become better and better. It features a descent rear spoiler. (The first-gen TT had a stability problem due to the lack of a rear spoiler).

So what is new with the Audi TTS Coupe? Very simply, 310 PS of power from the 2-lt petrol engine! It is as fast as a Porsche Cayman S (4.7-sec with the Sport Chrono pack) and way more affordable than a Cayman S. (0 to 100 km/h only in 4.6 seconds, with a DSG gearbox)! All that power is transferred by an all-wheel drive Quattro system.

Despite the acceleration figures, Porsche will definitely handle better than TTS thanks to its rear mid-engine structure. In addition to this, Porsche is designed purely for performance and handling. On the other hand, the Audi TTS features Quattro, which adds extra weight but increases the handling on any road surface.

It is really hard to pick which is the best. Probably, it depends on your taste.

What Happens When You Make Handbrake Turn?

What happens when you make handbrake turn? This is one of the most important for the young drivers, who are interested to play with the handbrake while driving.
Here is the consequence of using handbrake while driving :P You will have huge negative camber angle :)
Keep in mind, you cannot be this lucky and park your car like nothing has happened. The car is an Audi TT with Quattro.
Drive carefully!
