Kia | Istanbul not Constantinople #KiaYourCity from Twitter, Facebook and Google+ (Updated)

Few hours ago, Kia’s Worldwide Google+ (http://bit.ly/1qemZ7e) and Facebook (http://on.fb.me/1qJkw2f) accounts released a photo  under the #KiaYourCity campaign on social media. Nothing really special or unusual with this, however Kia shared a Kia C’eed photo that was taken in Istanbul, Turkey. Nothing unusual with this as well. I have just noticed that Kia shared the same content their Twitter (@Kia_Motors) account as well! (http://bit.ly/YWk22a) The surprising point was the label; 

“#ceed‪ in #Istanbul (not Constantinople) #Turkey #KiaYourCity #Kia”.  

Istanbul is used to be called as Constantinople. However, it is changed from Constantinople to Istanbul officially after the Turkish Republic was established. Despite this fact, Constantinople is still preferred by some people. For me that’s fine, I never argue about these things. Despite my calm approach to this, many people try to correct when someones says Constantinople to Istanbul. And it is quite interesting to spot this debate on Kia’s Google+ and Facebook pages.

The background of this lies on the history of Ottoman Empire and Byzantium. It is a subject that should not be discussed on a blog like this. However, I am really surprised to see this label on Kia’s website. And I don’t know whether it is generated by a user and shared by Kia or Kia generated it.

Kia pro_cee’d GT vs.

Kia pro_cee’d GT is the new rival of Golf GTI segment. Please don’t start moaning about Kia and why I mentioned in my blog. Kia is different now, it is not the same company ten years ago. If you still think, Kia has never changed and everything is the same; I assume you might be thinking the world is flat despite the proof of photos! So, we are over with this discussion. 
pro_cee’d GT has one of the most interesting name. Because, it is really hard to type on keyboard! This interesting character is not limited with the keyboard, pro_cee’d GT is designed by the Peter Schreyer. He is the person who responsible for this magnificent change in Kia. Especially, Peter Schreyer’s design philosophy is focused on form follows function and every design detail of this car has a reason to be there.
Now, let’s talk about VW Golf GTI vs. pro_cee’d GT discussion, which would never end. I know Golf GTI is an iconic car, I don’t argue with that but you are not ignore the fact that pro_cee’d GT is a very good car. What I like with pro_cee’d GT is the 1.6-lt turbo petrol engine with 204 HP and 250 Nm of torque. If a car company offers a small sized engines with lots of horses packed inside means one thing, they invest on new technology. This engine accelerates pro_cee’d GT to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds and the top speed of 230 km/h. However, it offers only manual transmission! Unfortunately, I am against manual transmissions in this era. They are old technology, they are not efficient, they reduce the ability of controlling emissions when you compare them with double clutch gearboxes! I am 32 years old and supporting automatic gearboxes since 1997. I really don’t know why the year 1997.
Anyway, if don’t have a subconscious trauma with manual gearboxes or obsessed with double clutch automatics. Kia pro_cee’d GT will offer you a great driving experience, way better price than its competitors and magnificent look. I really loved the LED fog light lights. And this looks really amazing! Don’t recall your old memories with Kia from 1998, everyone changes :) 
And also, Kia pro_cee’d GT offers suede and leather upholstery :)

Super Bowl 2013: Kia Sorento Space Babies Answers the Question “Where Do Baby Come From”

Kia’s Super Bowl commercial give the answer to the hardest question in the world, “Where do babies come from?” The Space Babies.
The Space Babies is the commercial campaign of Kia Sorento for the Super Bowl 2013. If you still think that Kia is not a desirable, you should check their present vehicle range. Kia is not the same Kia as we left five years ago.
Also, Kia is really doing well with the social media and creating viral content :) And I hope that Kia’s voice recognition system is that rapid :)

Rewind YouTube Style 2012 with Psy and Carly Rae Jepsen

Gangnam Style, I think Psy made the 2012 as the most YouTube involved year of the human history. Thanks to his music video Gangnam Style, which is watched nearly One Billion times changed everything. Basically, each one person out of six on this planet watched Gangnam Style at least once. (However, Microsoft Word still assumes that I made typo by writing Gangam and underlines it as red.)

And YouTube recently made a video called Rewind YouTube Style 2012. It is the mix of Psy Gangnam Style and Carly Rae Jepsen Call Me Maybe songs. And some of the other YouTube sensations were also featured on this video.

And Mercedes SLK! Come Kia and Hyundai, you missed the train on the Gangnam Style video but this time your cars should be have been there! I was expecting to Kia but end up with Mercedes. And this makes the Mercedes SLK as the year 2012’s YouTube sensations as well.

And there is one quite old Volvo S60 is hidden left of the Mercedes SLK.

Cars in James Bond Skyfall

James Bond Skyfall, I have just watched the movie and I wanted to write about the cars in the movie. Because, there are more cars placed in Skyfall that you imagine.
The list starts with Land Rover Defender and Audi A4. Then JaguarXJ as you expected, then we Range Rover as usual. China sequences starts with Mercedes S500 (S550 for US market) and the taxi was a Volkswagen Passat. And we saw Land Discovery 4 as police vehicles and as a normal vehicle. I totally forgot the wrecked Volkswagen Beetles in the Turkey.
The London Police was driving Kia Optima, Sportage and Opel/VauxhallAstra. I really don’t know whether the London Police drives Kia or not! And the fire trucks were Dennis, a British classic. Later on, Bond left the Jaguar XJ and moved away with the Aston Martin DB5.
If there are more cars, I will update the post later. It was quite hard to keep up with in the Skyfall :)

Psy Gangnam Style and Kia Cee’d

Gangnam Style is played everywhere we go, it became a sensation in a blink of an eye and received more than 350 million view on YouTube. Psy sings the Gangman Style with his unique style of dancing. This style became so sensational, millions of people follows him. Just check the crowd in NBC Today Show!

Psy is from South Korea, one of the most powerful economies in the world. And also home to Kia and Hyundai, also Samsung. This time, I want to talk about Kia. In just five years, Kia improved its design and became a serious competitor on market. Shifting from inferior product to demanding product! Many people noticed the improvement in Kia.

In Gangnam Style video clip, unfortunately I did not see any Kia! I was expecting a see Kia Cee’d instead of Mercedes SLK. New Kia Cee’d a global car and offers great features with a very distinctive design. The mutual point of Psy and Kia is their global success. I hope that, Kia will play Gangnam Style song in their future advertisements.

New Kia cee’d vs World!

New Kia cee’d, many of you will say this “come on, Kia !?!” Yes, I am writing about new Kia cee’d. Because, in last five years Kia had changed itself totally from the scratch! I am very serious about this, starting from their design philosophy to their head office interior design. Everything in Kia has changed! Therefore, Kia cee’d is worth to write :)
Honestly, I never thought that, one day I write these following sentences. New Kia cee’d has the best front-exterior design on its segment, it is so well designed I can compare with Alfa Romeo Giulietta without any regret. Actually, Kia has a way better-looking interior design than the rest of its competitors. Such as; Ford Focus, Volkswagen Golf, Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
Kia cee’d improvements are not limited the design, Kia cee’d also offers new engines and transmissions. New 1.4-lt (98 PS) and 1.6-lt (133) petrol engines, 1.4-lt (89 PS) and 1.6-lt (126 PS) diesel engines. In addition, there is a new double clutch automatic gearbox option. Also, there is an option of 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat in Kia cee’d. The option list goes forever, actually Kia cee’d seems to turn into a German car with this list! Don’t worry new Kia cee’d has an independent rear suspension that will improve the handling and the comfort!
I can clearly say new Kia Cee’d will be a strong competitor in a short time of period!

Volkswagen UP vs. Kia Picanto vs. Fiat Panda

Volkswagen UP, Kia Picanto, and new Fiat Panda. These cars share in two things in common, they are small and stylish!

I would like to start from Volkswagen UP, this small Volkswagen is one of the most sensational car of this year. When the Volkswagen UP was revealed, it was obvious that UP wouldn’t be a cheap small car. Actually, Volkswagen UP is a very well built small car with a good price. Honestly, it has a better interior than many other Volkswagen models. If you are thinking about Volkswagen UP; it looks great from inside and outside, powered by a 1-lt petrol engine from 60 PS to 75 PS, interior is really high quality, thanks to long gap between front and rear axles the interior provides comfortable journeys. On the other hand, it doesn’t offer any automatic gearbox and no five-door option yet but it will be soon available. Volkswagen UP is really well packed small car with more fun than other conservative Volkswagen models.

Kia Picanto is the product of Kia’s new era. After transferring designer from Audi, Peter Schreyer, Kia had a revolution in terms of everything from engines to design philosophy. Kia Picanto is a great result of this revolution. It is a small car with either three or five doors; from exterior is one of the most aggressive looking cars on this segment and from interior the built quality is way beyond previous Kia models.

Honestly, comparing Kia Picanto with previous Kia models would be unfair. So do the same :) The only draw point of Kia Picanto is the four-speed automatic gearbox, unfortunately, this is unacceptable. But as I heard from Kia, they are developing dual clutch automatic gearbox and it will be available shortly. The engine for Kia Picanto is 1-lt 68 PS and 1.25-lt 84 PS petrol engines. And again, don’t skip Kia Picanto you may regret in future!

New Fiat Panda is the newest vehicle in this comparison. New Fiat Panda is recently designed and it is totally a new! It offer really nicely designed interior and very high quality finish, you can easily notice the improvement from the previous generation. Unfortunately, the exterior did not satisfy me! When you compare with other cars, new Fiat Panda looks a bit calm and relaxed. New Fiat Panda shares some design bits from the Fiat 500 and gives some clues for the new Fiat cars. Similar to its competitors, new Fiat Panda have lots of room inside, there is no doubt about this.

Unlike other cars, new Fiat Panda offers something totally different than the others! New Fiat Panda is available with 0.9-lt two-cylinder turbo petrol engine and you will be exempted from London Congestion charge! This laptop sized engine produces 85 PS of power and it is the most powerful one in the range. The other available engines are 1.2-lt petrol engine with 69 PS and 1.3-lt diesel engine with 75 PS. Moreover, new Fiat Panda offers dualogic five-speed automated manual gearbox. It is not like an automatic gearbox but work perfectly with the car. However, you need to choose the 0.9-lt engine to have the automatic. That’s the down side! If you are into financial concerns, this car would really satisfy you but don’t except excitement from the exterior design.

For me, if Volkswagen UP offer five-door and DSG automatic gearbox I will go for it; if Kia Picanto offers a better automatic gearbox I would definitely consider it as well. If new Fiat Panda was looking better and I was desperate for space, I would go for it. I think I should still stick to Fiat 500!

Super Bowl 2012 Commercials

This year there are many Super Bowl commercials aired. Today I am posting some of them and in following days, I will be posting the rest. There are many car commercial this year and I decided to divide them into different posts.
In my opinion, the Chevy Silverado commercial is really creative one. The Maya calendar and robustness of Silverado is integrate in a very good way. And the others are Suzuki, Kia. This Kia commercial is a part of the previous one!
