Finally the New Range Rover with James Bond Inspiration, my 1000th Post

New Range Rover is my 1000th post in my blog.

New Range Rover is recently revealed to public in the Royal Ballet School, Richmond Park, London. New Range Rover looks like the combination of Evoque and the present Range Rover in term of exterior, therefore I didn’t like that much. It looks good, unfortunately not ground-breaking.

(The press event of the new Range Rover reminded one thing, James Bond. Because, the new Range Rover came out from the water like Bond girls coming out form the sea. Range Rover’s product placements in James Bond movies might have influence. Dr. No: Ursula Andress, Die Another Day: Halle Berry.)

However, the technology underneath the new Range Rover increased the bar higher. The present model was not able to offer the technologies you may find in German SUVs, especially in terms of safety systems. New Range Rover now offers; Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assistfeature enables to complete stop and available at low speeds, Intelligent Emergency Braking (with Advanced Emergency Brake Assist) brakes the vehicle if the upcoming traffic is too close or the driver is not responding to a potential collision (This is a great function and it is enough to buy the new Range Rover), Blind Spot Monitoring, Dynamic Response active lean control, another great feature is Reverse Traffic Detection warns driver for potential collisions during reversing and this is another must have feature as the Range Rover is big and may hard to reverse for some drivers and lastly Surround Camera System with T junction view feature.
Now the interior features of the new Range Rover (Now Range Rover offers the same luxury like in Mercedes S-Class); soft door close, power upper and lower tailgates for boot, cooler compartments, electrically deployable towbar, Land Rover classic Meridian audio system, 8-inch central screen , voice control, multi-massage seats and Executive Class rear seat (Two individual seats) and LED ambient lighting. And I hope that Range Rover’s navigation screen and instrument panel’s screens are improved and faster CPU is available, so go around the menus will be faster.
And the best bit, I like is the leather covered gear knob :)
New Range Rover 310 kg lighter and features new engines. V8 Supercharged produces 510 PS and reach to 100 kph (62 mph) 5.1 seconds (0.8 faster than previous one) and %9 more efficient.  3-lt diesel engine TDV6 produces 258 PS and 4.4-lt SDV8 diesel produces 339 PS. And SDV8 is %22 more efficient than the previous model. And I hope that 4.4-lt SDV8 will not ruin the weight balance.

And price starts from £70,000 and end up at £100,000!

Finally, the Range Rover may look quite similar to previous model but it is obvious that Land Rover realised the risk of new Bentley SUV and improved the technology and interior way beyond my expectations. Now Range Rover is ready for the Bentley SUV and compete with German SUVs way better than ever.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mercedes Unimog

Mercedes Unimog! Forget Range Rover, ignore Mercedes G-Wagoneven don’t mention Toyota Land Cruiser. Mercedes Unimog is the king of off-road. And many people never heard of Unimog, however they saw it many times.
Unimog is the four-wheel commercial vehicle of Mercedes. However, Unimog has a unique design and character since it was first built. Unimog always had the pick-up design, huge wheel and enormous off-road capabilities. For me, it is the best for off-road! Therefore, nearly whole countries in the world prefer Unimog for emergency services.
Recently, Arnold Schwarzenegger bought a $250.000 Mercedes Unimog to replace his super-efficient Hummer H1. Firstly, it is good to hear that Arnold realised that Hummer H1 was useless and secondly, it is not good to see that Arnold will be turn Unimog into pimp my ride car. And I really wonder what Arnold will do with Unimog? Provide public services such as; clearing snow in California, towing vehicles, towing trains, moving heavy items, cleaning road with special extension. Whatever Arnold tries to do with Unimog, there is a limitation! Unimog cannot do more than 120 kph (75 mph)
After Arnold’s move, I am definitely sure that, many Hollywood star will replace their Range Rover and Mercedes G-Wagon for an Unimog. But keep in mind, Unimog is huge!

Range Rover Evoque vs. Mini Countryman

Range Rover Evoque vs. Mini Countryman. I should have written about them long time ago. But I didn’t and I really don’t know why. Last year, around these times, Land Rover revealed the Evoque and just before that, Mini revealed the Countryman.

Many people like me, assumed that Mini Countryman is going to be a rival for Evoque and they will eat their market share. However, this did not happen. Countryman has its own customers and Evoque has its own customers.

Since the beginning, Range Rover Evoque represented as a posh, show-off oriented and expensive. This strategy was good and was bad. Because, some people do not consume products that are too popular and perceived as a symbol of wealth. And some people love to consumer products that show their wealth.
However, with Mini Countryman things were a bit different. Mini did not engage with any celebrity or tried to promote Countryman as a something posh or show-off oriented. So, they did not turn into complete rivals.

But that is not the real reason. Evoque and Countryman have a huge gap among each other and that is called, price tag. A fully loaded Evoque can go up to £55,000 and Countryman can go up to £33,000. As you can see, there is a £22.000 of gap!

Honestly, I really love the design, driving experience of Range Rover Evoque and I would really want to own one. But £55.000 for a such a small car is too much from my perspective. And when I consider Mini Countryman for £33.000. It may be expensive but it is not that expensive. And also, Mini offers the same technology from BMW. With Countryman, you may order some of the features that are available in BMW. And that’s plus either.

I am not saying Evoque is not good or anything else but it is expensive. Actually, Evoque is targeted for people who will not say it is expensive.

In the end, Evoque and Countryman are really good cars. Evoque offers very good off road capabilities, Land Rover technology, high quality production and great design. Countryman offers off road ability, enjoyment of Mini, go-kart feeling, high quality and unique character. If I dismiss the price tag, just buy the one that matches with your personality. I think this is the best answer for the comparison.
Mini Countryman is offered with 1.6-lt petrol engine with 98 PS (One) / 122 PS (Cooper) / 184 PS (Cooper S); diesels are 1.6-lt  90 PS (One) / 112 PS (Cooper) and 2.0-lt 143 PS (Cooper S)

Range Rover Evoque is offered with 2.0-lt petrol engine with 240 PS and 2.2-lt diesel with 150 PS and 190 PS.

New Range Rover is Here!

New Range Rover’s photos are leaked to internet today. Like other manufacturers, Land Rover did not wish to scare the existing customers with a complete new design. So, new Range Rover is a combination of previous model and Evoque. 
Range Rover Evoque did a huge success and Land Rover wants to benefit and expand this success to rest of their fleet. And also existing Range Rover still receives attention; so the best option is to combine them. I was expecting a better exterior, however interior is way way way better :)
New Range Rover’s interior reminds me the Jaguar XF’s interior. Lots of shiny wood and many dails.
Anyway, new Range Rover is way lighter than the previous one, 420 kg! This is a great success, and thanks to full aluminium body. By this way, new Range Rover is the first full aluminium SUV available on market.
New Range Rover also features, Terrain Response 2 technology. With new Terrarin Response 2, new Range Rover analyses the current driving and roads conditions, selects the most suitable settings.
Engines are; refined petrol V8, TDV6 and TDV8 diesel engines are also available. 
More details will be available later on September. New Range Rover still looks one of the best SUVs on market!

New Mini Paceman (Coupe Countryman)

Mini Paceman’s (Coupe Countryman) photos were released on Mini’s Facebook Page with partial camouflage. Paceman is the coupe version of the Countryman model, which is targeting the market of Range Rover Evoque Coupe. However, Evoque is the leader of its market! It is really hard to eat Evoque’s market share.
Mini Paceman will be available with the same engines from the Countryman and this is the best strategy to keep cost at low! 1.6-lt petrol engine with 122 PS, 1.6-lt turbo petrol engine with 184 PS and 218 PS. Most probably Paceman will be available with the all-wheel drive option as well.
I really wonder the ease of reaching the rear seats. In Evoque, it is quite impossible!

Goodbye, Range Rover TDV8

Range Rover will be replaced soon in couple of months. These probably the last photos of the present Range Rover.
This model is on market for nearly ten years and received facelift for four times. The first facelift of Range Rover was the replacement of the BMW Td6 turbo diesel with 3.8 TDV8 turbo diesel and interior was revised. Later on, another facelift changed the interior again and replaced the instrument panel with a LCD one, it was around summer 2009. And recently, 3.8 TDV8 was replaced with 4.4 TDV8 and lots LED lights became available. 
In my opinion, I always like the first product. Exterior and interior were better than today, despite the lazy BMW Td6 engine.
This Range Rover Autobiography is powered by a 4.4-lt TDV8 diesel, 313 PS and 700 Nm of torque coupled with 8-speed automatic gearbox. Only needs 7.5 seconds to reach 100 kph (62 mph) and top speed of 210 kph (130 mph)

Range Rover Evoque: New Photos

Range Rover Evoque, a revolution from Land Rover from heavy-duty off-roader manufacturing to designer high-heels making. I am saying this because Victoria Beckham is the brand ambassador of the Range Rover Evoque.
Since Evoque was revealed, I never had opportunity to have a very good weather take its photos. It was always cloudy or indoor and results were not satisfying. Hopefully, last week I had the opportunity and everything went well :)
Evoque is a really beautifully designed vehicle, especially the interior details represents the Land Rover’s aim to improve the level of luxury on their vehicle range. Despite its electric steering-wheel that disconnects you from the road a bit, there is nothing wrong with the Evoque. Nice to drive, really spacious, lots of technological gadgets, diesel engine can rev up to 5000 rpm. And you cannot have this type of revving diesel engine that often. That’s a great success of Land Rover engineers.
This Evoque has a great colour combination, white interior and sand beige interior leather. Interior looks really nice with colour and reminds me the Beckham’s handbag and high-heels. She likes this colour as well!
Actually, Evoque provides you everything you need and smaller than the traditional Range Rover. Since I saw the Evoque, I always thought why do I need the Range Rover! 
This one is a Range Rover Evoque Prestige SD4, 2.2-lt turbo diesel engine produces 190 PS and 420 Nm of torque coupled with 6-speed automatic gearbox. Land Rover should replace this gearbox with a 8-speed automatic to improve fuel efficiency and acceleration. And Evoque only needs 8.1 seconds to reach 100 kph (62 mph) and top speed is 195 kph (121 mph).

New Range Rover is Spotted by TOP555 Cars

New Range Rover is here with very few camouflage. I know it is really hard to believe but today I saw these photos in TOP555 Performance Cars’ Twitter account. They managed to take picture of the new Range Rover. And it looks quite similar to computer aided models, New Range Rover has a similar to radiator grill to Land Rover Freelander and some similar design bits from the Range Rover Evoque.

However, new Range Rover did not receive a major design change from the present model. I assume that, Land Rover does not wish to lose their present customers by a very different design.

New Range Rover Caught by a Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG

New Range Rover 2013 prototype was caught while testing on Dubai by a Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG driver. It is very easy to identify the monster Mercedes V8 Kompressor engine!
And from the footage, the major lines of the new Range Rover is very clear. And I can say one thing, Land Rover did not take a risk to introduce a fully refresh Range Rover. Instead, Land Rover re-interpret the well respected Range Rover design shift into a higher level. This re-interpretation of design is done by Bentley Continental, Audi A3. Because, including Range Rover these vehicles receive really high demand from customers and people are willing to own one. Therefore, manufacturers do not wish to take a risk and introduce something totally different, instead they introduce a car that looks a bit similar to previous generation. So, existing customers will be buy it and existing fans will keep loving it.
However, in my opinion a new car needs to be a new car. Especially in terms of design. You never see a Maserati or a Ferrari or an Alfa Romeo with similar lines with previous model. I do not criticise the manufacturers and I do understand the huge risk of introducing a totally new design for a vehicle that has very solid sales performance.
Still, I go for the Mercedes-Benz G Wagon :)

Range Rover Evoque Off Road

Range Rover Evoque, for many people it the post Range Rover by Victoria Beckham, a car designed to be driven by super high heels and never get closer to mud more than one metre. Honestly, Evoque has that type of impression and I never expected a superb off road ability. Actually, I never expected an off road experience with Audi Q5, BMW X3 or Mercedes GLK. For me, these SUVs are contemporary interpretation of all-wheel drive car.
However, Evoque does its job quite well! Evoque does not offer any differential locks or low range gearbox and everything is done by electronics. The engagement of electronics and structural design of the Evoque turns the high heels driven vehicle into mud digger SUV. Evoque may not keep up with Land Rover Defender or Mercedes G-Class but you can climb very steep hills, easily cope with rocks, no worries with deep water and never feel that tendency to roll over. Most of the Evoques will be driven on road but I am pretty sure that some people will put them in tough terrain. And Evoque will not fail that much.
