Ginetta: A Fashion Statement at Autosport International 2012 (Updated)

Today was my second day in Autosport International show. And you should expect to read about cars, but I would mention about a fashion statement from Ginetta. You may not know the Ginetta, it is a British Racing  car manufacturer since 2005. They have four different types of racing cars and two types of road legal cars.

Ginetta’s corporate colour is orange and this includes the models’ high heels! Honestly, I was not expecting this type of precise branding strategy, from car to toe in orange :)

And thanks Ginetta for the hospitality!

I met with the person who is responsible for this style, Rebecca. And she told me, it was done on purpose ;)6-inch Orange Heels 6-inch Orange Heels 6-inch Orange Heels 6-inch Orange Heels 6-inch Orange Heels 6-inch Orange Heels

Mini Animal Print: Sexy and We Know It

Finally a car company offers an animal print with a car, I suggested this more than a year ago but I meant for interior not for exterior! Mini created an exhibition model covered with animal skin, a bit different from my idea. Exterior of this Mini is like an animal skin, I am sure it is fake but it is very well done job!
This car is a normal Mini Cooper inside but the outside is totally matching with any fashion season! This is sexy looking car is unfortunately cannot be sold! It is only for show purpose. I know many women customers desire to own one, but it would be really hard to maintain the animal exterior clean!
If you want to see this car, just go to Mini Park Lane in London.  And there are some fashion tips matching with the Mini! For this car, the best matching song is, Sexy and I Know It by LMFAO

Michelin Bibendum and High Heeled Women Shoes !?!

Today I was looking for the Bibendum on Google Image Search. You just type Bibendum and click to Images on bar top of the screen and it shows you the photos or pictures related with that keyword. Guess what happened? The shoes manufacturer Kurt Geiger released new shoes called Bibendum!

I was really shocked! Bibendum is a trademark of Michelin Tyres. And it is one of the well-known symbols. And I thought, may be Bibendum means something else and I did some research. The result? Nothing! It is the name of Michelin Man and it was introduced in 1894! Quite earlier than the Kurt Geiger shoes!
Honestly, I would not recommend ladies to buy these shoes. Because, Bibendum is associated with fat man inflated with air and represents a tyre brand. When I see a lady wearing these shoes, I would remember the fat inflated guy, sorry!
As you can see, branding is very critical. One mistake may alter the perception from sexy to faty! I really wish to hear from Kurt Geiger and Michelin about this naming incident :) Interestingly, shoes are made from leather, no rubber at all!

If you still wish to buy, here are the links:

BMW X6 M50d

BMW released another footage for their new diesel powered X6 M model. According to dialogue during the footage, the M Division team signals a new chapter for the M! As they are not planning to release another petrol fuelled engine, they mention about the new X6 M50d model!
Is this the first performance diesel? No! Mercedes introduced C30 CDi AMG Sportcoupe in year 2002 and failed! Petrol was cheap, so nobody paid attention to a diesel powered sport car.

If you are bored with X6 M diesel thing, you may watch the Net-A-Porter’s interview with shoe design Christian Louboutin. He is extra ordinary like BMW X6!

Pirelli Fashion PZero Fashion

I want to start with a simple question, what does Pirelli do? The answer is simple too, manufactures tires. Second question, what do you expect to buy from Pirelli? Car tires! Unfortunately, the second answer is wrong. Thanks to their brand extension strategy, you have the opportunity to buy whole range of fashion items from Pirelli, not only for men but also for women.
This new brand is called PZero and Renato Montagner is the creative director of PZero.
The whole collection is mainly concentrated on rubber, which is not something surprising. But the real surprise is the price tag! A rubber rain jacket for women is €590, a comfortable rubber high heels are €189!
The design concept is amazing, I cannot say anything negative about it. But the main problem is, who is going to buy them? The men department promise better future than the women. Still, why women ignore the other brands and pay €590 for a rubber rain jacket from Pirelli and €189 rubber high heels!
I really wish to have a chance to talk with their team about the future of PZero brand. I think they are trying to introduce PZero alternative to Porsche Design. Brush steel vs Rubber!

Front-Wheel Drive Aston Martin

I think many of you heard the new small Aston Martin. Sorry, micro Aston Martin, called Cygnet. It is based on Toyota iQ, actually except the exterior and interior, everything is the same. As the Cygnet is a luxury interpretation of Toyota, and Aston Martin has to do something. It not very nice to remembered with Toyota. Or in other words, people should not remember the Toyota when they see a Cygnet on street!
In order to avoid this problem, they held a special and exquisite event, a catalogue that explains the luxury character, a vehicle placed at Harrods store, and many other things. And I can clear say that, their effort is really respectful and they achieved their goal! However, there are some interesting bits remained.
As the Aston Martin produces only rear wheel drive cars for last two-three centuries, they are not familiar with the senseless front-wheel drive technology. And this unusual condition demonstrates some interests outcomes. As the Aston Martin does the marketing and writing the contents of specifications, things became complicated!
At Cygnet’s specification, they mentioned this “front mounted engine and differential” and next line “front-wheel drive”. When you first read these, they don’t sound wrong but when you read them again, they sound really interesting. Why? A front-wheel drive car always has the differential positioned in the front, in terms of engineering it is impossible to make a front-wheel drive car with the differential placed at the rear. I know that Aston Martin wants to emphasise the front-wheel drive but this is too much detail. Because, they already mention that it is a front-wheel drive in the following line. So, it is bit extra information.
Now, for the women readers I want to explain this conflicting situation. I mention that a car cannot be front-wheel drive with a differential placed at the rear. If something ever designed like this, it will definitely look high-heeled shoes where the heel is placed in the front and the real heel left with nothing. Technically, it will impossible to walk this kind of wrong placement. What Aston Martin mentions in terms of women terminology, high-heeled shoes with the heels placed at the heel of your feet. This is not wrong information but it is too much.
I added this extra information because, Cygnet received respectful amount of women attention.

Women Driving Shoes from Jill Ciminillo

If you have noticed that, I am trying to highlight the issue which were mentioned on Google search. I can see the search queries which end up in my blog. And one of the serious issue is best driving shoes!

When you visit a department store, you can find hundreds of driving shoes in many different colours. If you check the internet for driving shoes, you can find millions of options with unlimited price range. If you check Twitter, you can find some and that would be the most eye-catching one.

I have been following Jill Ciminillo for long time. She is a car journalist in USA. And she is really lucky, from her twitter I can see that, she drove more cars than her shoes closet! For last couple of days, she was tweeting about Hyundai Sonata. This is my least favourite car on earth. I never drove it and I am not planning to drive it in near future. Even if I was so obsessed to drive it, it is really hard to find a Sonata in Europe.

Anyway Jill posted a picture today on her twitter, which was something usual but the content was unusual. She posted her shoes, actually her driving shoes. Unfortunately, they were for ladies! They were not from Adidas, or Kurt Geiger or Nike. She told me that they were from a brand called Pelle with five inches of heels! Sounds weird for driving shoes but I told you, twitter is the solution for complicated answers :) And after her twitter picture, we finally have the best female driving shoes :)

If you are female and looking for a driving shoes, here they are :) And Sonata does not look that bad!

A fashion statement from GQ UK

I have been reading GQ Magazine (UK Edition) for long time, and it is really well written and enjoying to read like a car magazine. Some people don’t have any idea about this magazine and in briefly; if you want to develop your intellectual level you should read it :)
And I like their comments on different things! Sometimes you never expect to read anything like this or never imagined that thought but they did it. In February, 2011 issue has something really interesting.
I am directly writing the phrase from the magazine;
“Any shoe made from read satin with a heel resembling a lethal weapon is a shoe her legs need to be attached to. Be warned though, these Gianmarco Lorenzi dazzlers will demand a taxi wherever they go. £590. gianmarcolorenzi.com
I mentioned this statement to my fashion blogger friend Moda Cadısı (Fashion Witch) and she just said, definitely true :)
But there is one point they missed to mention. If you hire a black cab in UK (I prefer for its spacious interior) you might be bearing the terrible back suspension made by leaf springs. Ladies, your feet will be comfortable but your back will feel the whole pot hole on road! If you are asking what is leaf spring? It is something designed to carry heavy weights, not human beings!! No comfort at all.

From rubber to fashion P. By Pirelli

Today I saw something which really surprised me. I didn’t see ten Bugatti Veyrons at the same time. What I saw was more interesting than that! A terrible consequence of extreme brand extension strategy by Pirelli marketing team. This is the same Pirelli which produces tyres and calendar (I still could not understand the point of calendar’s impact on tyres). Let me tell you what I saw today, Pirelli branded shoes! Yes, they are shoes for humans and sold in Selfridges (Department store in UK) with a very “nice” price 210 € or 175 £ or 285 $.

These shoes are the extreme edges of lunatic brand extension tactics. Company thinks, we can expand our brand to everything and make products which never fit with the brand. Pirelli is a rubber company and mainly focused on vehicle tyres. Everyone perceives Pirelli as a heavy industry firm not a fashion firm! As a result of this perception nobody expects to see a Pirelli in department store.

Unfortunately Pirelli thought we should be in fashion business, because we publish a sexy calendar each year. So people may wish to wear a tyre brand :) Or they might think; we have lots of extra rubber let’s turn them into shoes and sell them. Whatever they thought is not working that well. Nobody was looking at Pirelli shoes or I have never seen Pirelli shoes on any fashion magazine. I think main reason for this, people used to see Pirelli on their car but they are not used to see on their feet! And this is the minor point Pirelli may accidently skipped!

I did some research on internet and I found out that it is worse than I thought. Pirelli has women section also! They also have high heels for women! I have never seen a woman who desires to wear a pair of Pirellis.

You can see the women and men collection of rubber producer Pirelli. I think they have more thinks but I could only found these on Yoox.com

The shoes I took pictures were named as PZero and here is the real PZero! And the Pirelli’s fashion brand called as P. By Pirelli. Don’t miss the dot after the P :)

A typical fashion conversation;

-Where did you buy your shoes? From Pirelli.
-Really I have just bought four winter tyres from Pirelli also.
